DC announced the details of their upcoming "Flashpoint" event today and it's looking like it's going to be the most expensive event ever. 5 issue core miniseries. 15 tie-in 3-issue miniseries. A group of tie-in one-shots as well. dcu.blog.dccomics.com/2011/01/28/flashpoint-friday-everything-will-change-in-a-flash/It feels like DC's version of Age of Apocolypse to me. I feel dirty saying that I'm probably going to end up reading each book.

They are the ultimate "wait for the trade" company now.

They are the ultimate "wait for the trade" company now. the prob with this is that DC is pretty crappy at getting trades out in a timely fashion (and then they only do select books in trade). Marvel on the other hand does it right with the TPB coming out like a month or 2 after the arc ends and they collect pretty much EVERYTHING.

Will check out the core-miniseries and possibly the Gotham City themed mini-series.
I heard DC is renumbering a number of titles after this event....wonder what (or if any) lasting effects it will have on the DCU and it's history.

I wonder what role Booster Gold and Rip Hunter will play in the event since its their job to try to protect the timeline and here they obviously fail. Why do I have a bad feeling that issue 1 will end with Booster getting killed

I guess this cashgrab is another price of them "Holding the Line at $2.99." We've already lost 2 pages per issue because of it.

Why do I have a bad feeling that issue 1 will end with Booster getting killed Because Dan Didio still runs DC. And he's the genius that wanted to kill Superboy and Dick Grayson in Infinite Crisis. Can't they give complete control to Geoff Johns now?

So, what changes forever here? They give every hero a different tint of their costume? Some guy from a Silver Age story returns to rape the mother of Blue Beetle? Power Girl's breasts grow an extra cup?

Another major cross-over? Thank god I don't collect comics anymore. Chill the "fudge" out DC.

Can't they give complete control to Geoff Johns now? You do realize Geoff Johns is writing Flashpoint, right? We'll see. I need to see if any of these minis will run in place of an ongoing or not. If they are, sure, I'll grab them. If not... well... Yeah, this is going to be expensive, but Blackest Night rocked, so there is good precident for this,

I was always a huge fan of every hero in an arc, mega cross over when I collected...but man, Blackest Night killed me finacially!
Times like this, I am glad I don't collect anymore.

They lost their minds when they put Dan DiDio in charge of the operation. Honestly, that guy is letting the inmates run the asylum right into the ground.

Meh, Final Crisis was awesome, Blackest Night was good fun so I'm not too bothered about another crossover. Will be cool for the Flashes to take centrepoint after being relatively minor characters in both the previous crossovers. And I'll just pick up the tie-ins for the characters I'm interested in (and you know Boosters is gonna be awesome!).
But even if its lame, meh I still have Batman goodness to keep me entertained!

Because Dan Didio still runs DC. And he's the genius that wanted to kill Superboy and Dick Grayson in Infinite Crisis. Can't they give complete control to Geoff Johns now? You do realize Geoff Johns is writing Flashpoint, right? He's still at the mercy of Didio. That's why I'm saying just give complete control to Johns, he won't have to be at the mercy of Didio. Plus nobody will have to talk him out of killing Nightwing.
