Anyone else sick and tired of this? It's like when anyone dares to try to put over a less-than-postive viewpoint these days, they get lambasted with that word 'till kingdom come! It's bloody annoying, people should really do their research into that word before using it to insult others.

To be honest, I've heard it a lot less in the last year.

I think the use of "hipster" might be worse, especially here. It's become synonymous with douchebag/dickhead, even though so many people dissing hipsters seem to have a limited idea of what actual hipsters would admit to enjoying/wearing/listening/etc. For this, I resurrect this gem of a quote from last year: Did you know? In every Wrestlecrap thread now, someone has to insult a hipster even if it has nothing to do with the topic.

Spoken like a true hipster. haha j/k But yeah - I've not really heard "emo" thrown around at all in recent memory. EDIT - Swears, mangs. Swears.

To be honest, I've heard it a lot less in the last year. And thank goodness. If you're an aspiring writer, it was pretty bad at one point- if your character got the slightest bit introspective or down, they'd get branded as emo. Not that every protagonist should be Hamlet, but sometimes I had to say to friends "Come on, give me some room here" when I showed them my stuff. As for hipster, I don't even know what that truly is.

People seem to use "Emo" "Hippie" "Hipster" and "Fag" as insult words.
But how come nobody ever uses a word like "Frat" as an insult especially since most frat boys are dicks?

The Dude is going to be all over this me thinks.
I am fine with it being used less as it was never used correctly to begin with.

Ah, come on, people use "frat boy" (and related terms "prep" and "jock") as insults all the time. "Frat boy" has been around as an insult way longer than "hipster."

Being an Evangelion fan, it's a constant annoyance when people describe it as 'emo' or 'angsty'. When they use either term, it becomes apparent that they have never actually watched the series, and are merely attempting to sound cool by throwing popular though inaccurate labels at it.
Mind you, at least they're not as bad as the io9 review that compared Evangelion 2.0 to smegging Twilight.

You know me too well Anyway, yeah I'm not fond of using the word "emo" to describe anything other than music, but really, I'm starting to see it less and less. I'm reaaally glad, because I always found it annoying as hell. Though I found it more annoying when bands were mislabeled as emo. ANYWAY, in the long run it really doesn't matter.

Thank god people have stopped saying that word for everything. But now everyone attacks hipsters for they were yesterdays "emo's."

For what it's worth, I remember back in 2007, someone called ECW Emo Championship Wrestling because of the barbed wire. Well, with the state of how it was back then, and considering that it was a WWE product, people who were original fans of the old brand might as well go emo.
And by the way why do some people call Daredevil emo?

"Hipster" is the worst because I honestly don't think anyone knows what it even means and just invented it for the sake of it.
