Yeah I'm in the 'this is awesome' camp. A part of me wishes to highlight the names you'd be able to choose between joining or opposing the villainous team, but I doubt it ever ends up happening. It would be cool, but this is a Pokemon game. (IE, a kids game.) They won't let you be the bad guy.

Anyone else notice how, except for the first series of games, every series has one name that is more "manly" and one that is more "girly"?
For Gold and Silver, Gold was manly and Silver was girly, for Ruby and Sapphire, Ruby was(some how) manly and Sapphire was girly, and for Diamond and Pearl, Diamond was(also, some how) manly and Pearl was girly.
I guess Diamond and Ruby were the manly versions for having the more "manly" cover Pokemon and well, come on, anything is more manly than Pearl....
As for Black and White, Black is the manly one and White is the girly one.
It is interesting to point out that the "manly" version ALWAYS outsells the "girly" version, so expect to see reports that Black outsells White by a large margin.

That said there are a lot of teens/adults who buy the games from having played the original and seen the show when it first started, so it's not just kids. And I figure the day will, eventually, come when they're going to make a massive console or PC version of these games, as a huge exploration RPG in the WoW vein. I just think there's too much potential there for them to not tap into.

Oh Good Lord, I haven't even tried to get Soul Silver and now they're dumping more shit on us. I should just sign my soul over to Gamefreak for a free copy when it comes out.

It's interesting that they chose black as that's a popular fake game on ebay.

Well you got a year to play Soul Silver. Black and White won't come out till holiday season in Japan, which means a March/April release in the US in 2011.

I like it. To the point, and it makes me think we might be getting another Ruby / Sapphire style thing where the games have noticeable differences.
Diamond used to be, too.

Just out of curiosity, all you saying these are bad/lazy names........ ...you wouldn't happen to have a better idea? Well, I don't mind the names, not to mention it fits the opposing colors gimmick perfectly, but it's true there could be more original choices, like Darkness & Light or Night & Day. Wait, Koda actually already suggested that second option. Also, I'm not too au fait of the latest Pokémon news. Any words on these games aside from the names and logos? I assume there'll be at least 100 more of the adorable critters, but has anything special been announced yet?

Pretty much nothing yet, other than two of the new Pokemon - Zoroa and Zoroark - which are basically Dark counterparts of Riolu and Lucario by all appearances (especially since Zoroark looks very similar to Lucario). Logic would indicate that there'll be 107 new ones since that's how many Diamond and Pearl had and it will bring them to exactly 600, but hard telling if they'll actually do that.

I couldn't even name the 151 original ones and I used to know them by heart.
