He was 94.Most likely known for his work as Alfred in Pre-Nolan Batman films, he had a long list of credits for his career. RIP

Very sad to hear. I've always thought of him first as the Celestial Toymaker from Doctor Who as well as Alfred. Excellent actor, and a great loss.
Apparently there's a little mystery about whether he was 94 or 95. He was never sure himself. Nice bit of ambiguity to leave behind.

Oh, that sucks! He also played on of the collectors for the poor in George C. Scott's version of "A Christmas Carol." Rest in peace.

Ah, man, he's the actor who I'll always associate with Alfred from Batman. RIP, and thanks for the great performances over the years.

As much as I like Michael Caine’s take on Alfred in the recent Batman films it’s Michael Gough who will always be the true Alfred to me, He was great in all four Batman movies he appeared in and his scenes were one of the few good points in the otherwise horrible 1997 Batman and Robin.
He’ll be fondly remembered by many. R.I.P

Three different actors played Batman.
There was only one Alfred.
RIP Mr. Gough. Thank you.

I've said this to various people and I'll say it here. You can take his performance as Alfred, change nothing, and put him in the Nolan films - and it fits. THAT is the hallmark of a classic performance. Dignified, honest, utterly compelling. Sad that he did it in such a bad collection of films.
RIP Michael. You were, and always will be, the definitive Alfred!

That's very weird. I was thinking of him the other day, wondering if he was still alive, and was incredibly happy to see he was when I looked him up.
I guess Mr. Freeze couldn't find the cure after all.
