By 1989 were kids really still THAT into He-Man? I sure wasn't. I had moved on to Ninja Turtles and the like. What gives?

Also, Dana yells out near the end "Oscar, you bastard" that's a terrible thing to say to your own child.

How about the part about how there are skeptics in the city after it was attacked by a giant marshmallow man?

How about the part about how there are skeptics in the city after it was attacked by a giant marshmallow man? it was stated somewhere that the Ghostbusters were sued and some people were arguing that they had caused the entire city to hallucinate or something to that effect. actually part of that is in part 1. it's just assumed that it was used as a way of sweeping everything under the rug or it came up in during the lawsuits.

I still liked He-Man, but I think it was pretty far down the totem pole of my favorite cartoons/toys by 1989.

Maybe the kids had gotten into he-man via the USA Cartoon Express reruns. Plus. you never know, i was still into transformers and GI Joe in 1991 (of course, that had more to do with picking up a bunch of the marvel comics at yard sales).

The script was probably started in 1987 since it takes a couple of years to take a big budget film from script to screen. He-Man was waning at the time, but still popular.

I don't think TMNT had blown up that big by 1989. But yes, the He-Man had more than peaked in popularity by that time.

If they really were yuppie larva then chances are they were spoiled (they sure acted like it) which means their parents would have bought them the newest, coolest toys.
So yeah, they'd have likely been all about the Ninja Turtles. The scene though was probably written before TMNT really hit as a phenomenon which lends credence to why they left the references to He-Man in.

Weren't the Real Ghostbusters pretty popular in the time between He-Man and TMNT? Obviously in the fictional Ghostbusters universe this wouldn't be the case, so He-Man's popularity continued to surge straight through to 1989.
Either that or Eastman and Laird were crushed by the Marshmallow Man.

What I always wondered as a kid was, where the hell did Winston disappear to when the courtroom scene went to hell?
Handling crowd control outside possibly?
