Are there any "Russian" wrestlers that are truly from Russia? Koslov is Ukranian, Ivan Koloff is Canadian, Alex Koslov is a Moldavan-born American, and Nikita Koloff is an American of Ukranian descent from Minnesota. But are there any wrestlers who played Russians from tv actually from Russia? It is somewhat like a lot of wrestlers who played Native Americans who are actually white or Latino, unless of course you were Wahoo McDaniel, who was Choctaw, I believe.

Nikolai Volkoff is from Croatia which was once part of the Soviet Union, so that's probably as close as you'll get.
Unless you count Zangief.

Nicholai Volkoff was from Lithuania, so while not Russian, was USSR; That guy Jerry Jarrett was shopping around a few years back to Vince was a Russian amateur champion.
Plenty more before the 1960s and the Cold War started.

Plenty more before the 1960s and the Cold War started. I believe that guy is Oleg Prudius aka Vladamir Kozlov, who was born in the Ukraine when it was part of the Soviet Union so him and Volkoff are probably the closest.

Croatia was once part of Yugoslavia, not the USSR; that country was split up by ethnic and religious guidelines into seven separate republics. True, Yugoslavia was once part of the Eastern European "block" that was all Communist, but was never a part of the Soviet Union.

Those guys aren't Russian. Not one of them are over 300 lbs, bald bearded, and waring a red CCCP singlet.

Salman Hashimikov, former IWGP champion who also appeared in the international tag team tournament at Starrcade '90. Salman is an odd case. He was born in Kazakhstan (so he's from USSR, even if it's now an independent country), was billed from Tbilissi (in the Belarus) and resides in Moscow. He probably adopted the Russian nationality after the split, though.

Can't think of any besides the ones already mentioned.
Although the WWE had that Boris Alexiev guy in developmental. He definitely was legit Russian. :-)

There were a bunch of Russians at New Japan's April 24, 1989 Super Powers Clash show.
- Vladimir Berkovich - Victor Zangiev - Wakha Eveleov - Salman Hashimikov - Shota Chochyshvili (who competed in a martial arts match against Inoki)
