He comes out on RAW again tonight. Does a flying headbutt then the Thumb Poke of Doom. All over in less than 30 seconds. Whatever. I`d change the channel if I could reach the controller fast enough. I don`t mind squash matches if the guy does some cool moves but that must be the worst finisher in history.
My question is:
He was in the WWE before as Jamal. Could he wrestle at all? I stoppped watchin for a while and didn`t even check the internet to see what was going on so have never heard of the guy. Is he going to put on entertaining matches or is this it?

I liked 3 Minute Warning, good high impact stuff that looked really painful (likely because it was). They did top rope splashes often and generally seemed pretty agile for big men. Somewhere between Rikishi and Samoa Joe as far as big Samoan guy agility goes.
I was excited when Jamal was rehired and Rosey was still employed. Back in the days when thoughts of 3MW vs Kane/Big Show ran through everyones mind... I really hate the Umaga gimmick...

I think he got some respect in his stint in Japan, and they like their long matches, so I guess he's gotta have some skills. Time will tell, I suppose.

The Samoan clan of wrestlers (Afa, Rikishi, Rosey, Jamal, Rock, Snuka) are all great wrestlers. Most of them may look fat, but as far as actual wrestling skill goes it's in their blood.

But as a gimmick, Umaga has wandered beyond the goofiness that I actually like, and my goofy-gimmick tolerance is pretty high. People complain about squash matches, but they were more interesting than Umaga randomly running out and thumbing someone, who he then doesn't even feud with. He's supposed to look like an unstoppable monster, but it's turning into an ADD gimmick; I expect Umaga to start Ritalin anyday, if onlt to keep him backstage.

Time will tell, I suppose. 30 minute singles matches where he makes Samoa Joe, you know the comparison was gonna be made, look as soft as Jeff Hardy and Jamal/Kojima from last year is one of my favorite forgotten matches of last year. anyways. you have to seek out his run in All Japan. Your mind will be blown. I know samoans have unusual agility and speed, but like it's so weird how good Jamal is when he was given the chance to showcase his stuff.

Jab your thumb really hard into your neck, especially just under the jawline. Hurt? Thought so.

Yeah, you'd think a guy called the Samoan Bulldozer would do something more devastating and awesome to watch than poking somebody with a thumb. Powerslam off the top rope, flying legdrop off the top, anything but the thumb!

I've already explained the thumb, if it was legit, it would hurt. It wouldn't knock you out by any means, but it would hurt.

I buy the finisher I just wish he'd bust out a tongan death grip

I used to mark for Jamals elevated samoan drop.
It looked absolutely brutal.

Jamal was pretty dangerous in the ring during 3 Minute Warning. Rosey was always better.

I just wish he'd bust out a tongan death grip I will retract all that I have said against Umaga if he switches his finisher to the Tongan Death Grip!

I think he can. He has great mobility for a big man and can take a bump. Now, if he could just get a gimmick where he doesn't need some stereotypical valet crowding up the act...

Do I think Umaga can wrestle? yes... Has the WWE showcased that part yet? Absolutely not... We just gotta wait until they give him a credible opponent at a PPV, then who knows... I think it'd be great if they matched him up against Rhyno at ECW ONS... Lots of High Impact Power Moves...

Jab your thumb really hard into your neck, especially just under the jawline. Hurt? Thought so. It probably would hurt. Doesn`t stop it looking crap. If it was all about how it would hurt if it was legit, everyones finisher would be a headbutt followed by multiple kicks to the head. I suppose they`re still building him up right now but it would be good to get more than a few seconds of fighting. Just seems like a waste of time when it takes longer for his manager to say his name than it does for the match to finish. I think I`ll hold off my judgement till he`s fought on PPV.
