I thought that it would be a good time to give some perspective as to where we were a year ago, and where many wrestlers stand now:
-Victoria turned heel after losing a bikini contest, beating up Christy, Candice and Maria to the delight of the crowd. She ended up teaming with Candice for a number of months, and still does on occasion. Christy was fired, and Maria has become more popular than she was then.
-Hurricane and Rosey (w/Stacy) went against the Heartthrobs. Only Hurricane is still employed with the WWE, and is the Crusierweight champion on Smackdown, without the Hurricane gimmick.
-Shelton went against Sylvian and Conway for his IC title. Shelton still has the IC title today (after losing it twice), while Sylvian and Conway are jobbers.
-The highlight reel has Jericho interviewing Kane, who just had Lita turn on him for Edge. Edge taunts Kane on the titantron.
-Bischoff comes to the broadcast booth, and puts down ECW. He then introduces Edge as someone working for his anti-ECW crusade. Bischoff hasn't been on tv since late last year.
-Edge beats Benoit in a tables match after interference from Tomko, Maven, and Snitsky. Two of those three men who interfered are gone, while Snitsky is a face. Benoit is off indefinitely from Smackdown, while Edge is a main eventer.
-HHH gives a pre-taped interview about going against Batista in a Hell in a Cell match at Vengeance.
-Val Venus is a victim of the Masterlock Challenge. Val is recovering from injury, while Masters has been pulled off of Raw due to probable drug problems.
-Christian gives an interview about the draft which started the following week. He had the crowd in his hands. He even got the fans to boo Cena, which wasn't that common at the time. Of course, we know what happens from here.
-Finally, Batista beats up Hassan badly in the main event. Hassan went to Smackdown and is no longer employed by the WWE, while Batista went to Smackdown and should come back soon from injury.
There you have it. That just goes to show how much has changed in a year.

Not that great a Raw. If I remember correctly, Venis actually should have won the Masterlock Challenge. Oops.

I remember this Raw, Hassan gets beaten up badly by Batista and Venis was actually getting a good reaction during this Masterlock challenge as I recall.
Unfortunately, the Christian/Cena feud went absolutely nowhere.

Batista vs. Hassan on that night was also the debut of Batista's new song, I Walk Alone, no? Yes, that's correct that was the first night he used that theme. I hated the "ECW rules" match with Benoit and Edge, as why do you call it an "ECW rules" match, they use tables in WWE too.

I remember that Raw, it was from Calgary.
They chanted boring during HHH's promo and went insane for Christian.

Is that the match where Benoit attempted to climb the latter and jump to the floor? If so, it gave some people the wrong idea of what ECW was about. I don't remember ever seeing Benoit attempt that in ECW. Nothing wrong with that, just something I thought during the match.

Christy was fired, and Maria has become more popular than she was then. -Hurricane and Rosey (w/Stacy) went against the Heartthrobs. Only Hurricane is still employed with the WWE, and is the Crusierweight champion on Smackdown, without the Hurricane gimmick. Stacy went on to lose Dancing With the Stars and to pursue a career in acting, too bad she can't act...oh well, her problem not mine. Jericho is now gone from wrestling after losing to Cena cleanly several weeks in a row. Kane is now feuding with himself and Edge is now a 1-time WWE Champ and hopefully soon to be 2-time. -Bischoff comes to the broadcast booth, and puts down ECW. He then introduces Edge as someone working for his anti-ECW crusade. Bischoff hasn't been on tv since late last year. Edge will now be in a very high profile match at ECW One Night Stand 2. ECW is coming back full time now and is still in WWE storylines. HHH is still main eventing RAW and is now taking up time with some DX reunion... Christian is now World Champion in another company, Cena is still champ. -Finally, Batista beats up Hassan badly in the main event. Hassan went to Smackdown and is no longer employed by the WWE, while Batista went to Smackdown and should come back soon from injury. There you have it. That just goes to show how much has changed in a year. added some stuff

I don't remember ever seeing Benoit attempt that in ECW. Nothing wrong with that, just something I thought during the match. I do remember him going for some crazy power bombs off the top rope through stacks of tables though. So it's not like Benoit didn't like to get occasionally violent with the plunder.

I forget, it might've been this match or the one with Tajiri where he tried that move like a minute in the match for no reason and yeah that did give a lot of people the wrong impression of ECW.

Just to add, I thought this was a good Raw to look back on for several reasons. I always thought the first segment and the next to last segment were the highlights, and here's why:
-Prior to that Raw, it would have been crazy to think that Victoria would still be employed by the WWE right now. The diva search women were taking over the show, while all of the other women wrestlers were either unemployed or injured. For her to beat up those women and get cheered doing it sent quite the message, even if she never really benefited from it in the long run.
-As for Christian, this was at the height of his WWE popularity. Like I said, the crowd ate up every single word that he said, including his anti-Cena remarks. It would all go downhill from here, as he never got his one-on-one match with Cena, and would be promply buried on SmackDown before going to TNA.
Plus, with the first ONS coming and the draft starting the following week, it was an interesting time in the WWE, as they were going to resurrect an old company for a ppv and the rosters were about to change.

I do remember them destroying Hassan's credibility! He HAD credibility? I thought he did, he did get a lot of heat, and could talk pretty well on the mic. I hated how they had him lose in under 2 minutes to Cena last June, and then send him to SD to become fodder for Taker. But, to each his own I guess. Raw was pretty good around this time, I recall, especially heading into Vengeance. Cena was still on SD, and was not hated yet, as that would come in August.

Batista vs. Hassan on that night was also the debut of Batista's new song, I Walk Alone, no? No, Batista didn't debut the song until The Great American Bash
