Who didn't find the time Daniel Bryan Danielson and CM Punk spent together in the ring to be anything special at all.
I get the impression a lot of people on this board think these guys are some kind of wrestling gods who are incapable of having sub-par matches with anyone -- especially DBD -- but I didn't see a lick of chemistry between the two and their timing was incredibly off to me.

I'm having a hard time figuring out if you're trolling or not. Not. I thought Edge and Ziggler in any 2 minutes of their match were better than DBD and Punk in theirs. Indy history aside, did what they did tonight -- against each other -- rate as superior to others?

They faced off for 90 seconds before moving on to other entrants. Hardly fair to base their chemistry.

They were fine. You can tell Bryan is working like half speed though, its screwing up his timing. He's really fast and skilled, so he's used to working a million miles an hour (and being awesome at it unlike most) but in WWE he's like a bull in a china shop, tip toeing around trying to work slow as hell like everyone else. I don't know if there are any wrestlers on this forum that could tell me if I'm just seeing things that aren't there, but that seems like the case to me.
Once Regal got in the ring, I thought it was pretty awesome, though I'm a big mark for all 3 and their histories together made it really fun for me to watch.

I think it was the fact that two wrestlers most people here started to support in the indies, facing off in the WWE was what most people were referring to. I don't think anyone is saying that the opening transcended wrestling itself or something, just that seeing Punk and Dragon in a WWE ring was pretty damn cool.

I liked it when Punk, Bryan, and Regal chopped kicked the shit out of each other. I thought someone was gonna break the sound barrier after a while.

Indy history aside, did what they did tonight -- against each other -- rate as superior to others? How can you compare a showdown between two guys in a 2 minute interim until a new entrant came into the match to a full fledged World Title match? I found what they did at the start to be pretty par for the course as far as Royal Rumbles go. It's not sacrilege to think there's a lack in chemistry between them but this is an odd scenario to gauge that from. I found the sight of them in the ring together in a Royal Rumble in itself to be a bit surreal, it's always cool seeing guys that you followed in the indies to make it so far as they've come.

Any two random guys at any point in the Rumble, sure. But the first two guys? I assume they had some warning of the order, thus some time to work out 2-5 really good spots that would show what makes them the masters of the ring that the IWC considers them to be.

That match was awful.Well, maybe not "awful", per se. Dull as dishwater, perhaps.

It might not have been an amazing spectacle, but that's because the Rumble is not about that. Give them 15 minutes on TV in a singles match and you'll get a classic in the making I'm sure.

That was it for me...I have watched these two for near a decade now tear the place down in Chicago for ROH or in IWA MS around this area and then seeing them on a grand stage like the Royal Rumble makes me extremely happy

why would you expect anything huge? Those guys would do great in an actual match. They had less than five minutes to even do anything.
It's not like they are going to be like Ax and Smash and just knock the crap out of each other for a good two minutes.
they are technicians. Not brawlers. They need a full length match to actually do anything.
