Yeah, that sucks. When my dog died I was very upset. At least he got old and useless. I know that sounds weird, but when my dog stopped doing anything, it made me happy. Like a kinda, old man dignity. I dunno, probably sounds weird. I love the fact that these past few years, he's had gray hair on his face. Made him look wise and studious. ;D

When my dog had to be put down, I was devastated.
But be strong, for yourself and for your pet, and know that the memories can't be taken away.
I absolutely promise it will get better, and sooner rather than later, because you'll know they're at peace. I promise you.

Condolences to you on your loss. Sounds like a really great dog and I am glad you had so long with him. Best advice now is take a few days to deal before starting to remember. Memories always break you up in the first few days. We'll be here if you need anything.

Ah this is pretty hard stuff. I had a cat named Leia (yes named after Leia from Star Wars) who I grew up with. I had her for 17 years and even though I knew she would eventually go, when it did happen it was still a shock. The day she died she was her usual self and it was later in the day when she went. It was pretty horrible.
Animals become a part of your family and when they go it's pretty devastating. I'm sorry to hear this.

I feel your pain. My cat, that I have had for the past 18 1/2 years, has passed away tonight. One thing that I can take comfort in knowing is that she lived a very good life and went peacefully in her sleep. This is just really painful right now.

Having lost three cats in the space of a year two years back, I get you oh very well. Sorry.

Thanks. Her kidneys were starting to go, and although I had her on medicine for it, I knew that the time was coming. I was basically prepared for this so the pain is less than it should be.
There's no way I could be able to handle the situation that you went through though.
