Theyre a good, basic rock band who have enjoyed fantastic commercial success, and a lot of their hatred is just unfounded bandwagoning from pretentious music elitists who just think its cool to hate on commercially popular music.
Not to mention "Curb" and "The State" are 2 incredibly good albums. They havent put out a bad album really. They just have a habit of putting 3 or 4 lame power ballads for the radio on every album.

I enjoyed their tribute song "Side of a Bullet". I think they're capable musicians from a technical standpoint, but for a good while there, every song dealt only with some aspect of clubbing. I hate it when rap does it, so I'm equal opportunity for lyrical shallowness

However, everyone here should listen to "S.E.X". Its so lyrically bad its awesome.

Hero was a solo song by Kroeger, not by Nickelback. The entire lineup was a pretty big mishmash of musicians from well known bands. Well still, pretty much the majority of the "talent" in Nickelback comes from Chad, so... That's not how you spell Ryan Peake.

Being the worst band of all time, outdoing all the efforts of Kid Rock, Metallica, Loverboy and Rush combined, is quite an achievment for them. Congratulations dudes.

How could someone say metallica and rush in the same sentence as loverboy and kid rock?
Metallica and Rush are two of the most talented bands ever. Even if you dont like their music you can still listen to it and be impressed by their technical prowess.

I've always like Nickelback. I don't like all of their songs but their first CD was really really good.

Hmm, I honestly have, or had no idea who they are and had to look them up on youtube.
They suck
Sorry, but I do not care for this type of thing, I just don't.

I think it's funny that people crap on Nickelback for having a lot of similar sounding songs, but LOVE Motorhead for it. Don't get me wrong, Motorhead is one of my all time fav bands, but lets not pretend they have a lot of variety to their stuff.

This. I'm a Nickelback fan, always have been. Plus, apparently, they are (and were) friends with Vinne Paul and Dimebag

If you're going to base a career around one song then make sure you do it right like Motorhead or Andrew WK!

That's about it really. I'd also say "Hero", but that's not really considered a Nickelback song. Everything else is just not for me.
And yes, Burn It to the Ground > Just Wanna Be Loved, by a landslide. Really, anything is better than that sorry excuse, piece of shit of a song.

Local wrestling heel "Wildman" Jeff Anderson, who is thoroughly entertaining in my book, uses "Rockstar" as his entrance music, so I now connect the song with his ringside shenanigans. I put the song on my iPod after that.

Well, any time a NB song is played, that's one less opportunity for a BrokenCYDE song to be played.
So there's that.
