It always cracks me up to hear that $330MM isn't enough to keep a company happy. If you're worried about people cutting the cord to cable - maybe you shouldn't charge such an ungodly rate for it.
Starz didn't have that many titles that I cared about anyway.

I dont like Redbox since you have limited time to browse because there could be a bunch of people waiting behind you and you feel you have to hurry it up. Not as good as the traditonal video stores where you can browse as long as you want.

I can't even think of the last time I watched anything on Starz play. Whatever.
The whole cut the cord thing is a wonderful ideal, until your ISP starts capping your bandwith and charging for more. f***ing AT&T....

I repeat what I said on the first page. Well....f***.... These greedy f***s are going to ruin one of the best things going in home entertainment right now.

So long as it doesn't screw with Phineas & Ferb being on there - and see no reason why it would - don't care. Seconded.

Not really suprised. Since Netflix took off and Cable subscriptions are getting more $$$, I figured that at some point the networks would find a way to get their cut.

Eh, if I want to see something on Starz, I'll watch Starz.
I've been spending more time watching TruTV OnDemand, SURE TOOK YOU LONG ENOUGH Xfinity!

Honestly, if anything this'd likely just drive up DVD rental subscriptions rather than Starz ones. Who's going to shell out like $30 a month for the chance of seeing a movie when they could pay ten and have it as a sure thing within a couple of days?

A lot of the stuff I want to see is only available on DVD, not instantly. So already they got me hooked.

What bothers me about all of this is that it's another in a long line of entertainment companies thinking that their content is so valuable that it's worth something on its own. These companies believe that customers will follow them away from Netflix and into their own platforms. They don't realize that customers don't want to have to go to different platforms for different movies, and that Netflix wasn't successful because of Starz' content, but because of Starz' content AND everyone else's. As soon as the entertainment industry figures this out, then they can make tons of money.
This situation is a little different because Starz includes Disney movies, and Disney has enough name brand recognition that they're one of the few (if not only) companies that COULD successfully drive customers to their own platform.

There goes Friday After Next. As a black man, I shouldn't have to explain how devastating this is.

But seriously, I love that trilogy almost too much. I bought them all in a double-sided DVD set for 10 bucks and played them into the ground. They're so damn funny.

They have 2 receivers at their house, and I have 2 at mine all under their name. EDIT: And I still pay $50 a month.

Not that big of a loss IMO. Whenever I watched Starz-owned content the video was in low quality. Yea I noticed that too. Not that it was so low that it ruined the movie or anything, but they always seemed to be of lesser quality than other Netflix titles.

We still have their content until February and it'll be more their loss than ours. I could see them crawling back eventually. If not, I won't complain too much. I already have enough in my instant queue that needs to be watched.
Even so, this does suck.
