If I like something, I have to do it to death, and i have to do it in a certain order. Like for example..before I start playing a video game I have to put every mission and side mission or whatever in the order I have to do it in, the do it and mark it off a piece of paper. Like I said, I don't know what I have or do not have..it's just how I've always been. Like in WoW? I saw it in your profile and I am the same way. I have notebooks stacked next to my Mac of lists for character builds, leveling professions, you name it. Must be done IN the order written. In WoW I have to do each zone, the entire zone, with each character in order. In GTA I have to collect all the packages in order, do all the side missions etc that is available by island, then the missions in order. I have a notebook where I have everything there is to do in any game I play written and checked off in order. I also have to watch ROH dvd's chronologically and eat my meals exactly the same. I've just always though it was me being weird.

And yes to me about being a "completist" about stuff I like. I can;'t by one album, I have to get the whole god damn discography. These, right here, are really hitting close to home. It's like that with CDs I buy, some of the time I'll look up CDs online and think I'll add some to my collection but I go a little crazy because of much I would need to spend, which is why I turn to using the public library and other sources (Like people I know or something) to get access to free music. Even though I mainly choose to actually BUY music, it certainly saves a crapload of cash to do this to get some free music. Hell, look at my iPod, I may have over 16,000 (Getting closer to hitting the 17K mark) songs on there, mostly because I put the entire album on there, though I leave out interludes sometimes, as well as a song that was already on there (For example, say if you bought a compilation album with one song and then after that, the artist has the same song on the album, it's unnecessary to have the same song twice on there, unless it's a remix or something). It's also the same thing with my DVD collection, especially my wrestling ones. Last year, I went all out in collecting PPVs from the past. I even completed my 2003 collection and 2005 collection, 2004 and 2006 are not too far behind. I can control myself, though. There are times when I'll say "I don't need that just yet" or "I'll get it later." Another example of my obsessive behavior is when I get into a TV show, I'll want to watch the entire series.

All my cd's, over 500 of them have to be in alphabetical order also. I used to try and do chronological for me (do that with my pro wrestling DVDS), but alphabetical for TV, by AFI ranking for needed movies, etc. works just as well. I also have word.doc and Excel files of nothing but lists of every movies, every short, every extra in order of original date of release or broadcast. Seriously, if I ever need to relax, I just open a file, grab some DVDs I need to write up, open up the tabs and I can go for HOURS just doing that.

Checking in. Was officially diagnosed over a year ago, but had known about it for quite a while. The good is good, I'm gifted with a lot of passions, I tend to be very smart and very sensitive. Chicks dig that. Also gifted with a very sharp memory. The bad can be VERY bad. I can be tempermental, I have my order, which is to say, certain things must be just so. If the order is violated, I will either forget something or I will stress out. Also have sleep issues and procrastinate a bit. I can also focus to the point of obsession on things. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. Also have bouts of depression, which can take some time to come out of. The only BIG problem I have is the bursts of temper which can be vicious for five minutes, then ten minutes later, when I'm calm again, I can act like nothing happened. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I work with a support group and get regular counseling at my college campus, so I can at least give advice. Can you talk more about the obsession stuff ? Me personally, My Little Pony. Or... the current incarnation of it, anyway. It's not all I like to talk about currently, but is a huge chunk of it. I'm not buying the toys because they're crap, but I'd like the episodes on DVD ASAP. That way I can free room in the DVR for something else.

Not to (intentionally) sound like a monumntal prick ehre, but can we have a show of hands of people who have actually been medically diagnosed by an actual doctor with Aspergers syndrome, rather than those who just checked Wikipedia one day and decided it fit them to have a "syndrome" that they could tag themselves to so they could feel special?
I need to alphabetise my CDs, Im a completist with things, but I dont see why I have to stick a name on it.

I haven't been officially diagnosed, but more due to a lack of cash and no psych willing to see me because I'm not a child.

Not being able to get a diagnosis does not give you the right to grant yourself one. You're fine, and a bit quirky (Id recommend a clinic about the pony thing but one step at a time) NEXT!

Well, I was diagnosed with it when I was young but I just wasn't told until I was a teenager. It does make sense for my behavior sometimes.

You don't have the right to question all the crap I've been through either. Want to doubt me, take it up with my mother. She thought I had A.S. long before I even heard of it.

I do as well, but when they originally diagnosed me, they said I was severely autistic. Turns out they were wrong.......thankfully.
Sadly, with this and the Multiple Sclerosis, it is hard to get a job to work with both conditions at this time.

It's just that the symptoms, a long with other syndromes on the Autism Spectrum, can be quite vague, and effect more than just those with Aspergers. I mean, it would be easy for someone to say "Well, f***, I am obsessed with wrestling, all my tapes are in alphabetical order, and I was a weird kid(what kid isn't?). It must be Aspergers!" and then never pursue it, from a medial/psychological stand-point. That does more harm than good to those actually with it. I mean, hell, 90% of the symptoms I've read about here in this thread and previous threads on the topic apply to me, but I know I don't have it(something that is also backed up by medical science)

I just hate being doubted due to having no control over my lack of official word. Not to mention, I don't really trust them anyway. I and my parents know myself a lot better than some random stranger who'd just observe me for an hour or so.

My beef isnt with anyone in this thread, and my skepticism of self diagnosis is more directed at peoples willingness to go over the head of people who have put years of medical training into what they do.
Your parents arent diagnosticians. If you want to just bury your head and insist that mommy knows best, then go ahead. It doesnt affect me in the slightest.
