That's what happens when you treat the most skeptical people around like the general public. This I agree with. The people who attend Comic-Con, more likely than not are members of the vocal minority on the internet. this 100%. Give some of the most skeptical and cynical people on the whole world special access to your new project whatever it may be and there gonna crap on it pretty much 100% of the time

That entire crowd can't possibly consist of little Armond Whites. And if the television coverage is to be believed, a lot of those people sound really excited about the previews.
This is a bad move. In this instance, the risk is worth the reward.

In this instance, the risk is worth the reward. How is the risk worth the reward? Even some movies that were praised at Comic Con did poorly in the box office. Studios spend a ton of money to do this, and have to do it at the last minute because Comic Con won't give them good advanced notice, and often even if the movie buzzes like Sucker Punch or Scott Pilgrim did, it didn't prevent those movies from tanking The movies that do well at the box office are those with mainstream appeal, and you don't need Comic Con to promote those. Comic Con is a relatively small audience in the end, unable to turn the tides of a movie bombing and unable to impact a movie that'll do well. In the end, the big things they stage are just going to be wasted money.

All the hype in the world is not going to make me care about something. If it looks good sure, but putting up a big banner and expecting me to give a damn about something I know nothing about won't make me care and it shouldn't.

Maybe this will allow Comic-Con to be more about, oh, I dunno... COMICS rather then having to practically murder someone to get into Hall H? Seriously, if Comic-Con is going to survive, it has to get back to the roots. The movie thing, when movies are tied to comics, is fine or have a cult following, but it's been getting out of hand the last five years or so. I've never been, but I'm assuming someone got the big idea to use it for promotion and now they aren't satisfied with the results, so they are pulling out.
