These are the first pictures of the Arizona Congresswoman since she was shot in the head during the Tucson Shootings back in January: This isn't about politics. This is about a woman who could have easily died, but is now just weeks away from leaving the hospital (according to her aides).

Miracle.
You find another word to describe it. I dare you.

Miracle. You find another word to describe it. I dare you. I don't care if you want to call it a miracle, but lets not forget the very skilled physicians that made this possible. She has shown great personal strength in her recovery, but the doctors who made it possible are certainly heroes.

Agree with her politics or not, that woman is freaking hardcore. Much respect to her.

Miracle. You find another word to describe it. I dare you. As a few others have stated, skilled medical treatment. I place the entirety of the praise on the medical centre that treated her wounds. She's looking great for someone who was shot in the head some months ago. A fantastic recovery and I'm sure she can't wait to get back out and face the world again.

One of the most remarkable things is that she has kept her personality. In most cases, with her type of wound, the damage to the brain permanently alters the person's personality.

I think the "miracle" part would be that she survived the wound to begin with. Being shot in the head is more often than not instantly fatal. Not to belittle the skilled medical treatment she got because that definitely saved her life and all the credit to the doctors is due. But it's just incredible she lived long enough to be given a fighting chance in the first place.
She also looks great. Really happy to see her recovering at the rate she is.

I guess, I'll be "that guy." I'd hit it.
Her recovery is quite amazing.

To put some numbers on it, 5% chance of survival, with only 3% living a good quality of life afterwards.

Well, OK, I amend my original statement.
Mad props to the doctors who fought to save her and help her regain the quality of life she has so far.
Mad props to her for being such a fighter to even come back this far. THAT is amazing too.
But someone is being overlooked in this: the staffer who was there when she was shot who knew enough to treat her on the spot before paramedics arrived. You have to give him props since he gave the doctors a chance to save her which gave Gaby a chance to fight for herself.
So, drinks for everybody.

It is unfortunate that the momentary "political discourse is getting too vitriolic" sentiment that was expressed often immediately following this incident didn't have any longevity.

I guess it depends on what you mean by miracle. That's about as far as that can go without breaking forum rules.

When I use the word "miracle" I don't really mean it in a religious context. Others might, but not me personally.

Hope her recovery continues and she is able to leave the hospital. It is still pure luck that she survived being shot in the head.
