I'd certainly rather have Sterling than Buck. But then I actually like John Sterling and all his awful puns.

Joe Buck already sucks, but Fox has been trotting him out for ballgames all season with that throat virus he has. I hope he gets better, but he sounds terrible. So not only is he bad like he usually was, he has an awful voice that is not pleasing to the viewer.

Try to find clips of his run when he was with Fox Sports Midwest. I don't know what the hell happened, but he displayed an intense amount of emotion calling Cardinal games in the late 90's.
And now for whatever reason, he's a vulcan.

He and McCarver need to be canned.
Im sure everyone else in the AL bullpen loved it last night when they did their obligatory Rivera ballwashing.
(Im paraphrasing)"If the AL has the lead late, they dont have Rivera in the bullpen.....what are they gonna do?"

And now for whatever reason, he's a vulcan. As a Cardinal fan I was about to say the exact same thing. I remember when he first started doing national games, I was really happy since he was my favorite announcer. He showed emotion and was really funny, but like everybody else has said, he has become terrible. There was a game a few weeks ago where someone hit a dramatic home run (I can't remember if it was a walk-off or not) and he called with the same emotion that he would a fielder's choice. I've heard people say the same thing about Curt Gowdy in the 70's, that he started out good, but ABC was having him do so many events and call so many games that he became disinterested and people could tell he really didn't care about the game he was calling. He would repeat the same facts over and over and didn't really call games with emotion like he once had.

And, to further confirm this, did anyone see him refer to one of the Tigers players as "Felix Hernandez" and even was introducing the Mariners players right after the White Sox?

The second one was called by FSN Midwest's Dan McLaughlin (Buck's successor), and the difference in the passion level was overwhelming.

1: It's always hard to understand what Buck's saying due to the huge Red Sox cock he's constantly throating. 2: Tom Hamilton should be the defacto announcer for all major sports games. All Star, Super Bowl, you name it. I endorse Tom Hamilton. Failing that, Ueker in Harry Doyle mode plus Mark "Slump Bustin'" Grace would be incredibly epic. Hell, add in old man Rex Hundley who sounds permanently stoned and it's guarantee ratings.

Joe Buck I don't think is that bad but I can see how people can hate him. Gus Johnson needs to do Baseball. DOWN THE MIDDLE FOR A STRIKE! No he doesn't. Baseball doesn't need an annoucer acting as if every pitch is for the world championship. Joe Buck >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Gus Johnson.

I only watch him for football, and I quite enjoy the pairing of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman I heartily agree with you. As a Packer fan, we got a lot of those two with them calling the last 2 regular season games, plus all four playoff games. I really enjoyed Buck & Aikman through that whole time. Buck giving Aikman crap about not being able to throw a wet ball and already making excuses while playing football at an early age was funny stuff as well.

That and he has the very BEST Home Run call. "Swung on and belted...AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY BACK! GONE!" I'm still waiting for someone to use Harry Doyle's 'And it's Goodbye, Mr. Rawlings!' LOVE that call.

Announcer talks always remind Mets fans how spoiled we are for having Gary Cohen (TV) and Howie Rose (Radio) as our main play-by-play guys.
Also, yeah, sometimes on SNY the Mets will show their classic Subway Series game vs. the Yanks from 1999, the Matt Franco walk-off hit off Rivera game. Buck and McCarver called that game, and Buck got REALLY wrapped up in what was happening, was appropriately excited for all the twists and turns of the game.
A few years later, he stopped giving a damn.

One of my absolute favorite parts of the Summer so far has been hopping on Twitter during every nationally televised FOX game and seeing Joe Buck trending. The tweets are hilarious, and sadly for 98.9% of us very accurate.
That man seriously hates the Yankees. His monotone, emotionless call back during a Yankee/Tiger game at the beginning of the season was embarrassing.
