I always hated anything based on the USA vs USSR, because as a non-American, I really didn't care about the jingoistic stuff.
Always loved anything to do with Macho Man and Elizabeth, just for the sheer uniqueness of their situation, where essentially a heel had a face manager.

Depends on what time period we're talking. I think it'd be more entertaining to talk Pre-attitude era for me, since I was between the ages of like 4 and 9.
Loved -
Bret Hart - Always thought he was awesome because his entire family was on TV.
Shawn Michaels - I liked his glasses, and always thought his matches were fun to watch.
Ultimate Warrior - Dude was insane and I respected that.
123 Kid - I thought he was actually a kid, Figured he must be bad ass to be able to fight the grown ups.
Adam Bomb - I'm not sure what it was about him, but I just always thought he was awesome. I was always a fan of his, even after he went to WCW.
Tatanka - Mostly because he was my cousin's favorite wrestler and I liked everything that he liked. I always thought Tatanka's hair was cool though, and I thought he hypnotized people with his dancing tomahawk move.
Undertaker - I fail to see how any kid wouldn't mark for him.
Hated -
Hulk Hogan - always thought he was a lame caricature of what a wrestler was. I didn't even realize that he was a real wrestler until I played Super Wrestlemania on the SNES. Always thought he was just an overpowered Superman-esque mascot with a crappy finisher. Turns out that I wasn't too far off.
Sting - I never saw him wrestle (nor did I watch WCW at all) until the Attitude era, but I always hated Sting. It wasn't anything against him personally, but I had a friend that always went on about how awesome WCW was and how Sting was better than anyone in the WWF, so I hated him by default.
Lex Luger - He was boring as dirt and his finisher was a freaking running forearm. I didn't know his gimmick was that he had a metal plate in his arm, I just thought he had a lame, uninspired finisher.
Goldust - Homophobia, nothing more and nothing less.

Loved Sting: I was a little Stinger back in the the day. Had his action figure, rooted for him in all his matches. The guy could do no wrong in my eyes. While some might've rooted for Hogan, I never really got on his bandwagon like I did Sting's.
Ron Simmons: He was a hero to the African-American community. I lost it when he beat Vader for the WCW titles. It's still one of my favorite moments in wrestling.
Bret Hart: The guy was straight-laced, quiet, and he got the job done. Something about that appealed to me. Basically, he motivated me to be the best at whatever I do and execute things with precision.
2 Cold Scorpio: lol I rooted for all the black guys, and this guy was too cool for words. He was doing stuff I've never seen before, and I even liked that silly rap and dance of his.
Ricky Steamboat: He did martial arts. I was a hardcore power rangers fan back in the day, so anyone associated with that was cool in my book. He reminded me of the hero in every martial arts movie. He looked impressive, and he fought against evil without backing down.
Dean Malenko: See Bret Hart
Arn Anderson: I didn't really like Flair that much, but Arn just had a rough and rugged look that appealed to the country boy in me. He worked hard and didn't complained. He just got the job done.
Macho Man Randy Savage: The voice, the look, the insanity. This guy was too cool for words. His Slim Jim commercials and appearances in cartoons were awesome. He was truly larger than life. His reunion with Elizabeth at Wrestlemania VII was the only time something in storyline made me tear up in wrestling.
The Rock: Again, supporting the brothers. In the debates in Middle and High school about who was better between him and the Rock, I always went with the Rock. He was a master at trashtalking, and he has what we call swag. He was that cool big brother my friends and I wanted to be.
Goldberg: I'm from Georgia, so the guy's a hero from the state. He was the man in our high school back in the day. Anytime we saw someone take a huge tackle, whether it was at a fight or a football game, we said for a while that they got Goldberg'd.
Harlem Heat: Black guy rule, plus they were a great tag team. lol
Chris Benoit: Controversial choice, but as a kid, he was one of my favorite wrestlers for a lot of the same reasons I liked Bret. Everything he did was crisp. I liked him so much that back in 2003 when I did my Make A Wish, I narrowed it down to either going shopping for school stuff or meeting him. After what happened, I'm really glad I went with the former. When I heard what happened, I trashed all of my Benoit stuff.)
Hated: Great Muta: This dude scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. He was freaky. Today, I see him/Keiji Mutoh as one of the all-time greats, but back then he was nightmare fuel.
Ultimate Warrior: More nightmare fuel. I didn't hate him persay, but he scared the begeezus out of me. Eventually, I started liking him, but I'd be one nervous kid if I met him at a young age.
Yokozuna: He beat Bret at Wrestlemania IX... plus he squashed Hacksaw Jim Duggan. That dude and Mr. Fuji were scumbag to me.
Vader: He was a big bully in WCW. When I saw him on Boy Meets World, my stance on him softened.
Rick Rude: He was, well, rude. His arrogance got under my skin, and he was so underhanded.
NWO: Hated them, especially Hogan. I already didn't care for him too much, but when he turned, it became hate. I loved every moment he got his butt handed to him.
The Nasty Boys: Ugh... Annoying, and they sucked. They beat the Hart Foundation through lameness at Wrestlemania VII, and I despised them since.
Triple H: Big nose, arrogant... I just never got his appeal. The other main eventers, I cheered and booed for the right reasons. He just annoyed me more than anything, like, "Why is he even here?"
HBK: Arrogant pretty boy punk. I loved seeing guys shut him up.

I loved/hated the Midnight Rockers because I thought that they were copies of the Rock n' Roll Express who was my favorite Tag Team at the time.

I started watching in the summer of 1991, and I didn't get my insider info until about 1999, so...
Favorites: - Ric Flair (especially all throughout his 1991-1993 WWF run) - Randy Savage - Bret Hart (dude just oozed cool) - Vader - The Undertaker - Chris Jericho - The Legion of Doom - Razor Ramon - Bam Bam Bigelow (I remember being pissed that he was stuck with Doink and wasn't getting more title shots) - Bobby Heenan
Un-favorites: - Brian Pillman (especially the Loose Cannon incarnation) - Tatanka (I thought he was corny) - The Beverly Brothers - The Nation of Domination - Brutus Beefcake (8-year-old me: "A barber? Seriously?") - Yokozuna - pre-1999 HHH - Eric Bischoff (liked the nWo, but hated him)

I agree with Goldust being a disturbing gimmick. After all, he essentially turned face by making it clear he was straight. How is that anything but a slam on homosexual people? I know wrestling is redneck theatre most of the time, but there are some lines that probably shouldn't be crossed. And, I'm off my soapbox.

Heh, as a kid I loved Goldust. At the time I didn't see him as creepy or as a slam on gay people, I just viewed him as Dustin Rhodes being different and cool.

Well, so did I. My previous post was written in retrospect. At the time I dug it.

I really dug the Undertaker. The zombie gimmick was always really cool to me. And I really hated Bret Hart, and honestly, still do. I hate Bret so f***ing much. I enjoyed his book, but it did grow tiresome to read about how he was the best ever.

Hated- Vader. He broke my cousin's back, so that always stoked a flame of fear and hatred in me until I finally grew into realizing what the business was. But MAN, did he get heat off me for the longest time.
Paul Orndorff. Something about him just....rubbed me the wrong way.
Loved: Cactus Jack-Heel, face, I didn't care, I marked for him every time out.
Ron Simmons-I was a huge Ron Simmons mark as a kid, and to this day, I'm still not entirely sure why. He was a good wrestler, but not so notable as to be beloved as he was.
Kamala-When the Dungeon of Doom first popped onto my radar, it was the first time I can remember seeing Kamala, and a lifelong markdom was born.

Loved: WCW uber-heels like Vader, Rick Rude, and Steve Austin. Why did I prefer them over the 'faces' they tended to feud with? Because even as a kid, it seemed apparent that those guys were tremendous workers who deserved my respect, even though I wasn't 'supposed to' cheer for them.
Hated: Shawn Michaels. What's ironic is this: Whereas I transcended kayfabe expectations by cheering for uber-heels in WCW, I hated HBK in the WWF because it really seemed like he was his character (and perhaps he was). Although I could see that HBK was a phenomenal worker, I resented his arrogance to the point that I always wanted to see him lose. Even when the WWF started pushing HBK as a face in the mid-90s, I could not forget why I hated them all those years, and continued to hate him. It was only once he left wrestling for several years that I began to reconsider my attitude toward the guy.

Loved:
Mankind/Mick Foley: Some of my earliest memories of watching wrestling involve him, and I can also remember always being excited to see him come back after he retired from active competition in 2000.
The Rock: I always thought just about everything he did was cool when I was a kid.
Rey Mysterio: As a kid, I took to his superhero-like appearance and moves quite fondly.
Hated:
Chris Jericho: His cocky, over-the-top "I'm better than you" attitude drove me so nuts as a kid.
Kane: This is an odd one, as I actually mostly loved him as a kid, but once he took his mask off and started setting people on fire, I quickly became rather frightened of him.
Randy Orton: See Chris Jericho's entry.
I admit that as a kid, how I felt about most wrestlers was based on whether they were face or heel.

I hated anyone that I thought was ugly, good guy or bad guy. So I hated Paul Orndorff, the Nasty Boys, any hillbilly gimmick, Duke the Dumpster.
I always liked Arn Anderson cuz he looks kinda like my uncle (probably tons of people would say this). I always gave him a huge push with my old WCW Galoob/WWF Hasbro wrestling figures.

During my early fandom (1990-1994, ages 5-10) LovedHulk Hogan - I'm an avowed Hulkamaniac, and I even said a prayer at Thanksgiving in 1991 that Hogan would beat the Undertaker and get his title back. Sue me, I hadn't been a fan that long, so I sure as hell wasn't tired of the Hulkster. Randy Savage and Ted DiBiase - I pretty quickly turned on Ted once I learned what the difference was between a face and a heel (I cheered faces...again, I was a kid ), but believe it or not I initially cheered these guys because they had beards. Sounds silly, but my dad has always had a beard, so I used to associate bearded dudes with my father. Bret Hart - Once Hogan was on his way out, I jumped on the Bret bandwagon for good. Roddy Piper - C'mon, what kid didn't love this maniac? HatedRic Flair - Interloper from WCW on MY wrestling show?! How dare he! More a testament to what a heel Flair was, but I also think his being more NWA-style made him feel different. Lex Luger - never knew him from WCW, but first I saw him as a cheap replacement for Hogan in 1993, then I felt he was upstaging Bret in 1993-early 1994, and I resented him for it. Never really got over that. Earthquake - the first monster heel of my youth, and scary as hell. Squashed Hulk Hogan's ribs, turned Damien the snake into snake burgers, helped turn Tugboat evil, etc. As a teen (1998-2000 or so) LovedHollywood Hogan/nWo and Bret Hart - Again, Hulkamaniac here, then became a little nWo-ite. Never gave up on either guy. Cactus Jack/Mick Foley - Didn't like Mankind after awhile, but friggin' loved Cactus and when they'd let Foley be more "himself." Undertaker - Liked him over Austin in '98, which is why I think I started cheering him more; was getting tired of Stone Cold pretty quickly. Scott Norton - TOTALLY random, I know, but once I was a teen I became a mark for bruisers who look like they can legitimately destroy a guy. Norton fit the bill. Chris Jericho - If you were watching WCW in 1998, there's no doubting the greatness nor the potency of "Jerich-o-hol". The West Texas Rednecks - I don't like country music, but I marked like an idiot for "Rap is Crap", mostly because they were going after Konnan. HatednWo Wolfpac - Babyface nWo? Boooooooo. Especially hated them when Macho and Hennig left (the two guys I actually liked) and then Luger and Sting joined FOR NO REASON AT ALL. Also, couldn't stand Konnan, and he didn't redeem himself for me until he led heel LAX in TNA. The Rock - I don't really want to say "hate", and Hollywood Rock wound up being a lot of fun, but once Rock became the focal point of the WWF I basically started ignoring it. He just bored me; got tired of it feeling like he'd be in the ring every week saying the same catchphrases.

Loved: Billy Jack Haynes: I thouht he was a pretty good wrestler in his prime and was due for an IC run. What put him over the top was that he was rocking the Oregon trunks, so he was representing my home state and I'm a PNW mark till the day I die.
Arn Anderson: I was supposed to hate him but I couldn't because I'd be damned if he didn't turn in an awesome match each and every time. Best spinebuster ever. Don't try to argue me with on this, you will lose.
Jimmy Snuka: Another guy with Portland history, plus he had a bizarre charisma that I dig. Any time anyone calls the fans "all you people in TV land", I'm a happy guy.
Haku: If I wasn't he'd kill me.
Heel Rick Martel: As a face he was a goony dweeb but when he went heel I was totally on board. I even liked it when he briefly adopted the top rope knee drop as a finish.
Hated: Hogan: Never liked him. Ever. Even as a kid I knew he was a glory hog and a poor sport (watch any battle royale where he gets eliminated). I was on Savage's side when the Mega Powers broke up.
The Freebirds: Every week I wanted someone to pop PS Hayes and Garvin in the mouth for good and every week the Freebirds would break my heart. The night the Steiners finally beat 'em for the belts I popped big time.
Col. DeBeers/Jerry Lawler: I hated both of these guys for the same reason. Their matches were SSSSSLLLLLLLLOOOOOWWWWWW and they almost always ended on a DQ or some tomfoolery. Feh too 'em both.
