If this has been an electrical worker doing his job, an accident if you will, it wouldn't be, "Haha, lets make jokes at the unfortunately dead guys mistakes." But because he was trying to steal to get a fix, sensitivity doesn't matter. Weak. This is on the news. Every single year, someone tries this. If I stuck a pink in an outlet, I have a hard time thinking you'd feel sorry for me, either.

It's not particularly novel that he died this way. It actually happens pretty often. That said, even though the guy was an addict, it's horrible for his family that this happened.

My condolences go out to his family and friends. I'd be lying, though, if I didn't say this was the first thing to pop into my head: ![](http://ionlywatch18s.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/5821370x.jpg)

You can call it weak, I don't care.

If this has been an electrical worker doing his job, an accident if you will, it wouldn't be, "Haha, lets make jokes at the unfortunately dead guys mistakes." But because he was trying to steal to get a fix, sensitivity doesn't matter. Weak. You're right, I should mourn this loss of humanity. I should... Laugh. Laugh harder at any attempt to condemn me. Honestly, look at my name, and wonder if somehow I can manage to care about a drug addict, who I did not know and therefor have no actual emotional connection to, who killed himself because of his stupidity. Hell, if it had been an electrical worker dying because they made a mistake then I'd still laugh. If they had died because unforeseen circumstance I wouldn't laugh, unless it was funny, like a toilet icicle from an airplane harpooning him or something. But I refuse to feel sorrow over his death. If I wanted to have my heart strings tugged at anything it'd be his life. His waste. Look at my posting name. The Absurdist. That's not some witty and pithy comment, or phrase. It's a worldview. This is all a joke, and some addict killing themself in a slapstick fashion looking for a fix to an addiction that has become their definition, their PURPOSE in life is funny. Bleakly, disturbingly and unceasingly funny. Some of us laugh at it because we can't see ourselves in that position so we shake our heads in disbelief and allow ourselves a nervous, if incredulous, chuckle. Some of us do it because it makes our own little lives seem somewhat better, "There but for the grace..." Etc., etc., etc. A man is dead. Electrocuted by the powerlines he was trying to steal. There is a punchline in there somewhere. You want to discuss the philosophical implications, or the moral and ethical ones, be my guest, my PM box is open.

I work for customer service for an Electric Company. A few years ago, someone killed themselves trying to steal copper from a live wire like this guy did.
Even dumber, after he died his family tried to sue the electric company for his death.

And truth be told, my heart goes out to them. But this was just plain stupid. It's about as stupid as trying to siphon gas out of a moving car. Or trying to siphon gas out of a car with an electric leaf blower. (I can't remember where I saw it, but I do remember the car being badly melted as a result.)
