Seriously, getting killed by a giant is the most epic death in history. Let me guess...you went by the camp with the mammoths near the start of the game and thought they were weaker than they actually are?

Do enemies level up with you, thus negating the point of actually leveling up?
That crap annoys me. I'm not well versed in RPGs, but it happened in Oblivion and Dead Island, annoying me to no end.

Yes and no. There is min and max level brackets for each enemy. Lets say (this isn't really the case) a Wolf's brackets are 1-10. That means if your level 5, if you encounter a wolf, its going to be level 5 as well. But if your level 15, that wolf will only be level 10, because that is as far as it can level. Really it depends on the enemy.

I saw the giant and thought, 'Aha, I'm going to go over there a feel like a badass!'. I giant stomp later and suddenly I realise I can't stroll through the combat like Oblivion. And frankly thats amazing, makes things much more interesting. But I'm love the game so far. I'm completely ignoring the main quest for the time being (so I can be at a strong enough level to survive random dragon encounters), and have signed up for the Companions. However, most of my time is being spent doing random caves and quests and generally dicking about. Really enjoying it though. I have a few niggling complaints (I preferred Oblivion's hub and general display) but apart from that I'm easily enjoying it as much.

Well, I haven't stopped playing it since I got it, definitely in contention for GOTY. Just finished the Thieves Guild & think I'm close to finishing the companions. Used a glitch to get a free house in Whiterun, now I'm trying to get a wife! Still need to get into the Dark Brotherhood somehow....
Also, Frost Dragon's are dicks. They ate my dog! ;_;

How do you get a dog? Only dog I've bumped into is that talking one you need for a quest. (Haven't got him as a follower at the moment since he's quest important and I don't want him to get killed ) Is there a dog you can get other than the talking one?

(Only read the spoiler if you're prepared to be sad) {Spoiler}There's a place called "Meeko's Cabin", and all that you find is a corpse on a bed with a diary, talking about how everyone's died from Rockjoint, except for Meeko. He hopes he'll be okay and that he'll see him again some day. Then, you hear barking and a dog called Meeko comes up, looks at the body and whimper. You can offer him to come with you, and have him as a companion. Or in my case, get thrown into a tree by a dragon

*clears throat* f*** trolls. Seriously...just, f*** 'em. I haven't had any major problems with giants (I saw one giant and I walked up to it and it didn't attack me. So when I found their camp I walked up to them and they started going ape. So I walked away only to be charged by the mammoths and giants. I thought I could fight them off but I couldn't. So I decided to run but I ran out of stamina and they caught up with me and smashed me into little pieces). But at least I can kind of walk around the giants or at least not get insta-killed.
So I'm walking to that place where the greybeards teach you about the shouting or whatever. I walk across the river and see what I think is big foot. It charges at me so I start using fire spell and fire ax. It's swinging at me but not hitting. I notice even though I've used all my magic and most of my stamina it's still got a lot of health. Suddenly it comes up close and hits me with 2 hits, killing me instantly. So the next time I just sneak up the mountain and avoid it. Later on i'm climbing the 7000 stairs and came up to a narrow pass when I hear something scream. I thought it was a bear. But then out of noweher comes a god damn ice troll. So I use my fire ax and healing spell. But no. Troll comes up. 2 swipes. Dead. f*** YOU TROLL!!!
And that's been my game so far.

I'm getting it on Tuesday, and rather than have one playthrough where I try and do everything, or a "good" & "evil" one, I'm gonna do a bunch. Eventually one of each race. Got them all figured out what they're gonna be and everything. From there, try and make each character inhabit their world realistically, through weapons/armor & abilities and quest actions and the such.
Might be the stupidest thing ever, but I honesty see this being the only game I play for a long time.

Well what a game Skyrim is! So far in Joker's tale ... (may contain mild, non-story related spoilers) An Argonian slave escaped and followed a loyal Empire Soldier who he then lost in the woods, got to the first village killed a Blacksmith and then presumably drowned catching salmon when falling off a waterfall. The End ----- My Dark Elf has had much more success ... Although down trodden he aided a member of the Stormcloaks and got to the first village {Spoiler}after initial dragon attack. People were scared of this white haired, charcoal tanned, blind in one eye fire mage who Burnt things first asked questions later. Fond the local trader has been robbed rush off to catch thief. Damned snow, pay better be good, this hide armour isn't keeping me warm, potato was poor choice of sustanence, Damned bandits trying to steal my potato. Where is this hideout?? Damn you snow mountain god! Hurray, recovered the stolen goods and found generating fire is a good way to kill Draugr, {Spoiler}I can read Dragon too. Ignored some romantic love triangle issues between a bard, an elf and a village woman bought a sweetroll and journeyed down river. Saw a giant being attacked by 6 people for about five minutes, helped by firing one arrow and then claimed the glory. Stole a leek, had to pay 5 coins for being a thief. Reached the big city in the middle of the plains, puzzled by the large amounts of water despite it not being next to the river, Nord Guard tell Elf he should mind his own business or he'll haul him off to Dragonreach dungeon. Sell some stuff, get handy with the Blacksmith tools, find out that the Inn needs an infinite supply of firewood and that the Grey-Manes and Battle-Borns don't like each other. (Considers burning down both houses to end daft dispute.) Talk to King and his retinue about news up in the mountains, get told to help {Spoiler}(Would rather not have to face a scaly terror again but after getting put into orbit by a Giant decide it might be safer to help.) Killed something big, scaly and important, gained power and I am now a Thane of Dragonsreach, in your face Nord Guard! Spends night in jail for punching Nord Guard. Hid in an abandoned hut whilst killing a mammoth. Off to the Greybeards {Spoiler}Expers on being Dragonborn Walk past three people off to a wedding, decline to mention dragon threat to them ... pass through sleepy village who tell me where the Greybeards live. 7000 steps! ... ugh I hate steps, ugh I hate snow, a wolf! It killed me! ... Ugh I hate steps, ugh I hate snow, a wolf! not this time wolfy boy, I hate steps, hey a pilgrim, damned snow, ahh a frost wolf, it killed me ... grrr. Damned steps, damnded snow, damnded dead wolf, hello again pilgrim, damnded dead frost wolf, hey female pilgim, oh look a frost troll! ... bollocks. Activate Dark Elf Pyromanaic mode! Steps burn! Snow Melts, No time to chat Pilgrim guy, burnt wolf, burnt frost wolf, Hey female pilgrim, Avoid Frost Troll using tree, lure troll into female pilgrim, hmm she ran away, lure Troll towards cliff edge, female pilgrim chose poor place to hide she's dead by Troll, troll can't reach me despite being two feet away. Eat fire! Burn!! ... hmmm resistant fella, well I have over a hundred arrows ... ooh a Troll pincushion. Reach Greybeard monastery! Complete my Training with monks, told to go get item. Check Map ... it's a hundred miles away!! Ugh, I hate steps. The story will continue ...

There's only one Giant that I've been able to take down, and I went after him because he was wearing no armor...only a loin cloth actually...and I had a companion. I let her attack, I hung back and hit him with some arrows. Pulled out a fire dealing axe, and went to town on his knees. Just barely brought him down. Also, a couple of simple things that I love about this game. Samon jumping upstream. Wolves in packs attacking a lone deer.

The one on the way up the mountain, I hopped up to a rock he could get to, and he went past me to find another path and disappeared, so I sprinted past where he showed up at. NOTE: Fire slows/stops the trolls from healing, and considering the heal like Wolverine, torch em. The only giant I killed was fighting a dragon. He killed the dragon with one or two hits, then came after me. Luckily his health was a bit low due to that. I ran circles around a rock, taking potshots with my flames.
