I was not sure if this had been put up before, but here is an interview with Jim Cornette about Vader's first WWF stint and his dealings with Shawn Michaels.*Language Warning*

Not too suprised, since back in 1997, in one of his rants on Raw, Cornette called HBK one of the best in-ring talents, but also one who would "take his tights and go home" if he doesn't get his way.

He has fair reason to hold a grudge considering that he'd earn bigger amounts of money if Shawn would've worked with Vader and the program had lasted a few months. As it was, Shawn buried Vader and cost Vader and Cornette main event money!

I can't believe I'm coming down on Shawn's side here, but why on earth didn't Vader just, you know, work looser? Shawn will never lose an unprofessionalism war, but I think being overly stiff is pretty damn unprofessional, too.

The funniest thing about that was his spot on Vince impression.

The funniest thing about that was his spot on Vince impression. Yeah, Cornette is quite good at impersonations. Also, Shawn did do the clean job to Vader in a tag match at International Incident. Its not much, but he didn't totally job the guy out.

Thing is, it wasn't like Vader was doing it on purpose to be a dick or anything like that. It was just how he worked.

Well, I usually don't agree with Cornette when he rants like that, but 100% agree with him here (even the "higher power" point). Many of the shoots I have seen are in the same vein as this regarding Shawn. By most accounts he was a prick and extremely unprofessional.

Who are you to say whats professional.

Who are you to say whats professional. You know, I will agree mostly to this. I don't think Vader was being too unprofessional. However, common sense would tell me what is or is not professional. Going into the ring and stabbing someone, without their permission, is not professional. Being constantly late or intoxicated to the point where one cannot perform, would be unprofessional. Agreeing to job and then not cooperating in the ring to the point that it threats the integrity of kayfabe, that would be unprofessional. Yeah, we're fans but that doesn't mean we aren't rational, intelligent beings.

Ive seen all that stuff happen a few times minus the stabbing. I think people have a way to high opinion on whats unprofessional in wrestling. There is almost nothing professional about pro wrestling.

I have never managed a professional football (soccer) team before but i know its unprofessional to not shake the other managers hand before and after the game no matter the score. By your argument i cant say something is sexest towards a woman because i have never been one ;D When you have enough people in the business (who you know are well respected from other peoples interviews) tell you something is / isnt professional then you can take it as near to gospel that it's so. back on topic though anything cornette says is 100% gold

There is almost nothing professional about pro wrestling. Ok, you've seen those things happen. Now, was the booker at the time happy that someone, like Jake, was drunk when he performed? Was the guy that New Jack shot on with the knife happy that he got stabbed? I bet when Justin Credible no showed ECW/WWE tapings, Kevin Dunn was really happy that he wasn't around and just couldn't wait to book him again for the show. He wouldn't, you know, fire him for no showing or anything.

I wasnt there to see any of those. Jake said he was drugged and New Jack said he ended up helping the guy. I get people like to think they can comment on whats unprofessional or what is in wrestling but there really are no boundries in wrestling. If Jake showed up trashed and put on an alright match would the promoter care? No. If when New Jack "stabbed" the guy they drew a huge crowd would the wrestler care? Probably not. Nobody cares in wrestling if theres money to be made.

Ok, you just said that there really are no boundaries in wrestling after saying that people like to think they can comment on what's professional or not in wrestling. Now, are you yourself in wrestling? If you are, then, ok, you can make your comment. If not, you just did exactly what you're saying other people shouldn't be doing. How would you know what boundaries exist in wrestling? I apologize if my tone is offputting or anything like that. I just disagree with your statement.

Ive been training for about a year and have worked ring crew for a few diffrent companys. Even in my short time around ive seen somethings some people would call unprofessional but thats really just how it is.

It's not unprofessional to work stiff, it is just a work style; wrestling is a full-contact product. I personally think it is stupid to work stiff, but it isn't unprofessional.
