So, if WWE is reintroducing the Tough Enough concept, why is still a need for NXT ? It seems redundant to me. Now we will have rookie tier 1 show and rookie tier 2 show.

Tough Enough is people learning to be wrestlers.
NXT is about wrestlers learning to be sports entertainers.

But how many more rookie themed shows do we need ?

I think WWE are still contractually obligated to produce NXT for the other countries where it is still on TV. If they can simply switch Tough Enough into that TV slot though, they could theoretically have S5 wrapped up in time for Wrestlemania.

I really wish they would have another all womens NXT with Cole and Josh on commentary. That was excellent. Otherwise than that, NXT just isn't very good.
I didn't really make much of an effort to watch Tough Enough first time around, but I might this time.

You do realize that it was the atrocity that was NXT 3 that drove NXT off of television in the first place, right?

NXT3 was a stopgap so that FCW didn't lose f***ing everybody that's worth a damn. Nothing more, nothing less.

NXT 3 sucking wind probably didn't help it's case though. NXT 3 was only on four weeks at the time it was pulled. That isn't time to assess anything. It was all about Smackdown My understanding of it was that the WWE had already decided during NXT 2 to move Smackdown from MyNetworkTV to SyFy, in exchange for cancelling the contract for NXT (which was in turn the contract for ECW before it was cancelled). WWE tried to find another US station to take NXT but couldn't find one (although that may have been because NBC Universal - who own USA Network and SyFy - didn't let them shop it to other companies). However outside the US they still had contracts to air NXT (in places like the United Kingdom on Sky Sports), so they had to keep making NXT. That may be the reason for NXT 5 (if it shows up). An international station which currently shows NXT may not necessarily want to - or get the contract to - show Tough Enough in that country. However they still have a contract with WWE to show NXT - therefore the WWE would still need to make the programme, even if it wasn't airing in the US. The same thing happens with Bottom Line. It hasn't aired in the US for years but they still make it for other countries.

But if you look at who's down in FCW, the only women who haven't been on NXT are Sonia, Shaul, and a new girl they just signed.

Yup.
To reiterate:
Tough Enough feeds FCW.
FCW feeds NXT.
NXT feeds Smackdown or Raw.

Jamie was like a female Trish Stratus, don't know why they canned her if they were putting her on TV with NXT 1 and Raw while Jaimie was her NXT 2 replacement.

Yup. To reiterate: Tough Enough feeds FCW. FCW feeds NXT. NXT feeds Smackdown or Raw. I would say that it would be more accurate to say this: ET feeds FCW, which feeds NXT, which now feeds SD, which has always fed Raw.

It's probably because NXT still gets like a million viewers a week and really shouldn't cost that much money to make (hence how Superstars is actually good for the company) so they just keep it on the air. Either that or they need something for Matt Striker and Todd Grisham to do nowadays.

Still though, that is certainly the staircase. Some guys are able to skip a step sometimes though.

Back to the topic at hand, if NXT goes, what feeds the extra hour that opens up for the Smackdown tapings? It can't be Tough Enough since they wouldn't have, say, test matches every week. They'd have to fill that hour somehow.
