Some of the tweets from other wrestlers about Edge have gotten me a little teary eyed. Especially Zack Ryder's who said without Edge, there would be no Zack Ryder, and that he'll always be an Edgehead.
Yoshi Tatsu's are hysterical because of how incredibly simplistic they are.

And I still can't believe there's moronic supersmarks on YouTube that think this is a work.

It's been a weird day. Looked on Twitter, and saw a lot of mentions of Edge. Came onto the forum, and saw the mass of new threads, and realised that I'd lost track of time and forgot to watch Raw last night. When I saw this thread, I was shocked. Edge was always a firm favourite of mine, and I still have my maroon "Are You An Edgehead" t-shirt that a friend got me for my 11th birthday. Somehow, it still fits.
It's a shame to see him go, but at the same time, it is good that he's getting out before he went through an injury or worse. Hope everything goes well for him from here. Rather disappointed that he's one of my favourites that I never got a chance to see perform live, thanks to Randy Orton and his hotel-trashing ways. Wish he'd got the tour bus sooner.

For the day I've been deeply saddened by this, Edge is definitely in my top five favourite wrestlers of all time. I saw his retirement before school this morning and I was choked up watching it, teared up too. I'm not ashamed to say it because I'm such a big fan of him. It put me in a sad mood for the day. I didn't think I'd feel like that but it really hit home seeing as I've watched basically his whole career in the WWE.
It's a true shame that he wasn't able to hang up his boots on his own terms, but luckily he was able to walk out on his own terms and thank god things didn't get worse. Atleast he can say he retired in a good way, his last match was at WrestleMania and he was the World Champion, so he went out on top and in glory. 38 is a young age to retire but it's for his better, it's just a shame.
But on the bright side, SilverVision lowered the price of his 3 disc DVD set so I snatched that bad boy up. All I gotta do now is cherish his sacrifices for us and simply thank him, definite future Hall Of Famer.

I didn't expect this at all. I figured if anything, he would retire at Wrestlemania 29 if were in Toronto losing the WHC to Christian. I'm just glad he's not continuing to wrestle knowing he has a potential life-threatening injury. That would have been a terrible way to go out. At least this way he went out while he was still at the top of his game. I'm definitely going to miss Edge. Mentioning Maple Leaf Gardens was awesome, I go to school just around the corner. Toronto loves Edge!

@brethart I remember training w/both Edge & Christian in a ring @ my house back in '97 & he'll always be one of my guys.
@brethart Such an abrupt end to a great career saddens the entire wrestling world. Cheers to the rated-R Superstar.

wow, Ryder and Hawkins lasted longer than Edge. I would never quessed that. So Ryder and Hawkins started in 1998 too? If so then I don't remember that. They've been in the WWE for a few years, Edge has been with the company for 13 years. If this were a decade later, then we'll talk about the Edgeheads lasting longer than Edge.

Was totally stunned when I heard the news this morning.
Edge (or "The Edge" as my dad insists on calling him) was never an all-time favourite of mine, but he's someone who you could always rely on for a great promo or a solid match when the time came and I've got a lot of fond memories of his career. Edge & Christian, still one of the greatest tag teams ever. Hell, it was his feud with Foley in 2006 that was one of the main reasons I got back into wrestling. And you've got to give him credit for being the one man who could do what so many others failed to - getting the crowd completely on Cena's side.
While the Rated R Superstar character was getting stale recently, I think in a few months time WWE are REALLY gonna miss him. Thankyou Edge.

I've been a fan since he debuted. I don't know why, but I just liked his promos when he was running on the streets and then when he would be in the rafters. I got to meet him in 2007, and he was incredibly polite and told me he appreciated me waiting all day to meet him. I was there when he introduced the Rated R spinner belt, and now I can say I got to be there when he announced he was retiring. I'm bummed he can't do what he loves to do anymore, but I am happy he can rest now.

It's too bad his career has to end this way, but atleast he leaves as champ, and I would rather see him walk away now somewhat healthy then try to stick around and see something bad happen to him.

From Alter Bridge's twitter:
Our friend Adam Copeland (Edge) has retired from the WWE. We wish Adam all the best as he turns the page on this chapter in his life!
Just watched the retirement speech again. Trying not to cry was one of the hardest things I've ever done.

The only thing that is getting to me is people are almost treating it as Edge died in ring when he just retired. I mean the tributes and respect shown is nice, its a tad creepy too.

Believe me, I understand but this is different because Edge can physically never have another match. If he does, he could end up paralyzed or worse and it's scary. Other retirements are easier to deal with. We know there's a possibility to come back in some shape or form, but Edge can't even come back for a small angle. He can't take any bumps or do anything really. Ever again. It's scary. It's sad. It's unexpected. And, I think that's why it's much more emotional than a regular retirement.
