Seeing as Edge could very well be considered the greatest World Heavyweight Champion, and many people including myself hate that there are two world titles in the same company, would it be fitting for the World Heavyweight Championship to retire WITH Edge?

I wouldn't mind. The WHC's been looking increasingly irrelevant next to the WWE title, such that they probably should've just consolidated them into a single championship a while ago.
I'd consider retiring the belt to be a better idea than throwing it into a midcard feud like Christian vs. del Rio.

Considering how shitty/short lived most of his reigns have been; I wouldn't consider him the greatest holder.
But even if he was, and I like Edge, I wouldn't agree with them retiring a whole belt for him.

It's all a ruse. He'll turn up with it on TNA next week and challenge Hogan for the 'real world's championship' and they'll have to blur the belt out for legal reasons.

Even with a brand extension, we don't need two major titles. Retire it and make the WWE Title the only one in the company. Keep the IC and US separate, and have Tag and Divas. This will be our title lineup.
