I LOVED what Shelton and Mickie did. Trish was great. Shawn Michaels was boring as usual, HHH STILL SUCKS, and Cena retaining? Just comedy. Gee, what a surprise, HHH still sucks. First of all, why exactly does he suck? You can't just keep saying that over and over again with no real reason. And no, putting it in all caps all the time doesn't make it a reason. Second of all, it's comedy that Cena retained? I thought that HHH sucks. Hmm...I guess you can have it both ways. Oh, and how exactly was Shawn Michaels boring? I have never once been bored by Shawn Michaels, and I am absolutely positive that I am not the only one. I'm just as positive that you're in the minority with these comments you keep on making. (By the way, I don't actually expect an answer to the Shawn Michaels question. That's asking way too much, I know.) And that makes me very, very happy.

I just got back from Chicago. I was fortunate to have attended Wrestlemania 22, and from what I understand from you all, the crowd was really hot. A lot of us at the show were hoping it would pick up on TV, I'm glad it did. I thought I would throw in my 2 cents on how the show went from the live perspective:
Carlito/Masters vs. Big Show: Great opener, crowd was really into Carlito, with a few "Carlito" and "That's Not Cool" chants. The Masterlock even got a huge pop.
MITB 2: Best match of the night in my opinion. Shelton made the match, imo. His ladder springboard spot and the leap onto the ladder were unbelievable. A "This is awesome" chant started getting underway right before the match ended. Don't know if this got picked up on TV or not.
Benoit/JBL: I didn't particularly care for this match. The Eddie crap has gone on so long that I no longer care. The match itself wasn't anything to write home about. Crowd was sorta into it.
Foley/Edge: Off the chart! 2nd best match of the night, these two were incredible together. I was glad to see the love for Foley come back (it seemed no one cared about his last match at Taboo Tuesday), yet Edge was over as well. Huge pops for every spot, especially the flaming table.
Booker T/Boogeyman: Like everyone else has said, the preceeding segment was better than the match. I remember very little of the match, but I remember the crowd going nuts for DiBiase, Snitsky, and Goldust. Crowd was dead for most of the match. Boogeyman needs to do something else besides eat worms to get over with the crowd long term.
Trish/Mickey: Awesome match, maybe the most important women's match of the last 20 years. Crowd popped for Trish at the beginning, but the crowd turned on her mid-match. There were very LOUD Mickey chants from where I was at. Excellent showing from these two.
Taker/Henry: I could have cared less about this match. The crowd pretty much echoed my feelings, as they were dead for most of the match. The only reactions I remember were the leap over the casket, and the ending. Otherwise, it was pretty boring.
HBK/McMahon: I loved this match, despite all of the interference. Vince took some pretty sick shots from the chair and the ladder. The crowd started to chant "We Want Bret" at the beginning, but it didn't last long. HBK diving off the ladder, and doing the DX crotch chop got huge reactions. Awesome display!
Rey/Orton/Angle: Great match, although it was a bit too short. Rey was clearly getting booed, as this crowd was clearly behind Angle. It seemed to me that Rey hardly did anything in the match, but I hear his knee problems are flaring up again. When he won, the crowd was furious, but this might not have been picked up over the music. What was up with the bird get up?
Candice/Torrie: Who really cares? It sucked! The boring chants were nice. Towards the end, there was an "Austin/Hogan" chant, but the match ended before it really got picked up.
HHH/Cena: Match was actually pretty good, but that could be because I was part of that awesome crowd! Never before have I been part of a more passionate crowd than at WM 22. It was about 80/20 in favor of HHH, although that could have been the section I was in too (aside from a few kids, EVERYONE in my section hated Cena). Every time the Cena fans started a "Let's go Cena" chant, there was a "F*** you Cena" chant to counter it. Cena winning by submission upset the fans to no end. Once again, the music might have been too loud, but the fans were legitimately pissed to see Cena win.
While not the best WM of all time, I would put it in my personal top 10. I thought WWE really delievered. I can't wait for WM 23!

Benoit/JBL: I didn't particularly care for this match. The Eddie crap has gone on so long that I no longer care. I didn't watch Wrestlemania, but I tuned in to Raw the next night to see Chavo Guerrero vs Shelton Benjamin. I've got to say that guys like Chavo, Rey, and especially the audience really, REALLY need to stop with the 'props to Eddie.' The match was great, but the refusal to get over Eddie sort of left a bad taste, so to speak. Eddie was paid a huge tribute at the Hall of Fame ceremony; his death got the attention and immortal recognition it deserved. Move on. Seriously, how long are they going to keep up with this Eddie stuff? I don't remember having Owen's death constantly shoved down my throat after the Owen's death was paid tribute on the Raw is Owen show...

He was booked like Superman from 2002-2004. He couldn't be beat without interference or Triple Threats. His promos are the same garbage I was listening to back in 1999 when he first turned heel. His matches are overpraised because he works as a heel in the match and gets the most offense. He's put over by both face and heel commentators. He's held back Jericho, buried Kane and RVD, destroyed Booker T's credibility in the main event, took potshots at the Rock, Bret Hart, and Austin MULTIPLE times in "shoot" fashion. Yes, kid..sorry to tell you this but HHH F**KING SUCKS!

Yes, kid..sorry to tell you this but HHH loveING SUCKS! I think HHH is one of the greatest of all time. He puts over a lot of talent - Benoit, Batista, and Cena at the last 3 Manias. Mostly though I don't think theres a lot of guys with maybe the exception of Kurt Angle who could put on the kind of rollercoaster matches he does. If it was Cena vs. RVD, Booker T, Edge, or whoever else you want to put in there it would've have been as special of a match or as special as a moment. I couldn't be happier that John Cena won, but that was more because I think the younger guys should be pushed then I think HHH sucks.

It took 4 years in the main event scene before he put over Benoit, Batista, and Cena too. You know...the Rock used to do this kind of thing ALL the time and he drew more, got more reaction, and had a bigger connection with the crowd. What took HHH so long?

Yep, I just came back from Chicago (Man, that was a small arena). I 've never heard a crowd like that. It was awesome ;D. Man, was I tired though after running around Chicago. Carlito/Masters vs. Big Show: Match was good. Glad Masters/ Carlito didn't win. Crowd seemed to like Carlito alot. Of course they had to lose the title the next day, though. MITB 2:What a match. ;D One of the best matches of the night. Although what was u p with Flair. Him leaving and coming back was pointless (Unless they really checked on him). I had a feeling RVD would win. Benoit/JBL: Eh, it was an ok match. Wasn't as good as some of the others. Foley/Edge: Great match. Nothing like a great hardcore match. I though Foley would've been slower since being out for awhile, but he kept up pretty good. And of course one of the best bleeders. The barbed wire in the head, Edge landing in the thumbtacks, and of course the highlight of the flaming table. Booker T/Boogeyman: Million Dollar Man! (My favorite heels as a kid). That part with Eugene was hillarious. Glad he decided to do that for a night. That part was more impressive than the Boogeyman him self unfortunately. He can't do much, yet he still won. Trish/Mickey: Finally, they're starting to reduce the lingerie matches and the weak matches. Mickey's impressive (Gald she won the belt) and they really pulled off this match. It was entertaining unlike the snorefest of the other women's match. Taker/Henry: Of course Henry lost. Still, the match could've been better. HBK/McMahon: Blinks eyes in disbelief (Suck it? Oh man, when will this come). Anyways, McMahon really took a beating there. Priceless ;D. Shane in the kiss my ass club, also priceless. But of course the end where they wheeled him out while he was giving the one finger salute. What can I say. Rey/Orton/Angle: Angle was definately the crowd favorite in this one. Not my favorite of the night. Candice/Torrie: Boring! But what made up for it was the hillarious comments around me. One of my favorites, during the middle of the match, someone screamed "Ring the bell already!". And of course the comments of Candice being embarrassed in front of everyone in a bra and panties, but able to be naked in a magazine seen by millions. NOt even the guys wanted to see this match ;D. HHH/Cena: HHH pulled off this match since he wrestled 90% of the time. The crowd was insane at this point and was at their nastiest (Including me ). Especially when they started off with the "f*** you Cena", shortly after, the fans started the "Lets go Cena". But it was obvious majority of the crowd was against Cena (Especially when HHH tapped out). Except for the teenage girls 2 rows in front of me and the kid behind me . All in all, good match, the crowd made the match even better. There's my comments. Not as good as the other comments on the board, but hey, I'm exhausted now.

Quote:HHH pulled off this match since he wrestled 90% of the time
Phoenix quote: "huh??"
In my opinion, HHH did most of the work (Just an opinion from what I saw) especially in the 1st half of the match.

Saw the event a little late. Sorry if these points have been done already. Anyway, I thought that it was a great show overall. I agree the crowd made it really special. They were so into everything, and it was fun to see them booing the faces I hate, and cheering the heels I love. Tag Match - Pretty good to get the thing going. Would have liked to have seen Carlito and Masters win though..if only to free up the other two guys to feud with each other. MITB - RVD RVD RVD! Man, that was awesome. Wasn't RVD's greatest match, but he picked up the win. Was half expecting him to come out at the end and challenge Cena. MVP of this match has gotta be the very under-rated Shelton Benjamin. JBL/Benoit - Pretty lame match, but I don't mind either of these two guys, so I was happy either way. Incidentally, this match made me realise my dream job is to be the guy who rubs oil on Jillian's boobs! Edge/foley - totally awesome. Foley has taken some crap recently from the IWC, but he never lets me down. He was great..Edge was good too. But he looked seriously messed up at the end. Could hardly raise his hand in victory, and he was trembling so much. Hope its not serious. Booker/boogey - agree the skit before it was gold..especially seeing the Million Dollar Man again. the match was pretty crap, and I hate seeing Booker jobbing out like that. Mickie/Trish - LET'S GO MICKIE! Seriously, Mickie is totally awesome. She's got it all. Can wrestle, talk on the mic, do the psycho thing, and I wanna bang her like bongo drums. You could tell she was loving the support and good on her. Party at Lenny's house! HBK/Vince - good to see HBK get his revenge. And the crotch chop ruled! DX in da house. Taker/Henry - Was Taker's losing streak ever in any doubt? Triple threat - Too short as a match, maybe because they came out with all guns blazing. But good to see Rey win. Would have liked this match to have been a bit longer, at the expense of the playboy crap and build-up to the main event. Pillow fight - lame HHH/Cena - firstly, I gotta say that the entrance for HHH was hilarious. He must've felt like such a dork. Cena's was seriously gay. That's evidence right there why he sucks. This is what happens when you let 40 year old women tell you how to portray your character. Anyway, the match was ok, but why let Cena win, when the crowd is reacting like that. The only reason I can think of is to turn him heel, whcih makes sense. But HHH deserved it. Plus we saw another crotch chop! Anyway, overall I enjoyed the show..can't help but think the WWE have gone and picked the two guys who will sell them the most merchandise to be their world champions.

Oh, and another thing that sucked about the Cena-HHH.. I love the way that Triple H tapped to the crappy STFU.. when in the past he's withstood submission moves like the Ankle Lock and Crossface.. lame!

Overall, a really good PPV, IMO. Better than WM 21, at least.
One thing that got my attention was that song by Shinedown, "I Dare You". They played it at the start and end of the PPV before playing "Big Time".
I don't know what it is about that song, especially the start of it ("Hello, let me introduce you to the characters of the show"), but it just seemed to nail the emotion of Wrestlemania.
If I were Vince (agree with me or not), I would make that song the WWE's version of "One Shining Moment". At the end of every Wrestlemania, they play that to recap the night. Each WM can have it's own theme to hype it up, but play "I Dare You" at the end.
Just a thought.

Just watched WM yesterday night. In total, I thought it was a lot of fun, with at least something worth mentioning from each match. I dunno if it'd stand up to repeat viewings, but it was fantastic for the night.
The tag team titles match was fun- nice way of pepping up the crowd, Kane was feelin' it and Carlito bumped like a maniac out there. God knows where they go from here though.
The Money In The Bank match was quality and dramatic and exciting and stuff, even if it was mostly spots. But hey, I dig spots, so that's all good.
JBL-Benoit: Jillian looked hawt last night. We had the following exchange where I was watching it:
Kyly- "Bloody hell, check out those implants!" Me- "We are."
What's with JBL's manboob-tastic physique at the moment, as well? Anyway, the match was OK if a bit sluggish, and JBL's Eddie-imitation was in pretty poor taste. I mean, I know they were real-life friends, but still. Nice ending, too.
Edge-Foley was in many ways a retread of Orton-Foley except with fire in place of the barbed wire boards. Good match though, we always dig violence and Edge was working his ass off. So far so good for WM22.
Booker T-Boogeyman was the same old same old for Boogeyman and it's going to get boring soon enough. As for the skit: Great to see Birchill and Snitsky get a Wrestlemania moment, but what did Goldust say? TUNE INTO RAW TO FIND OUT! Incidentally, Sharmell was hilarious.
Mickie James-Trish Stratus went about 10 minutes I think. Great psychology, good bunch of moves busted out, particularly Trish's bizarre vertical hurricanrana thingy. Mickie has GOT to work on her finishers, since that's the second consecutive PPV she's screwed up the finish of. Apart from that, the match was great and the crowd totally abandoning support for Trish to boo nutty ol' Mickie made a MMP member happy here.
Mark Henry-Undertaker: Foregone conclusion. Not as horrid as it could have been. Nice dive by Taker highlights an otherwise utterly forgettable match.
JR- "Mark Henry has a chip on his shoulder" Me- "Goes well with the sausage in his beard." Friend- "He sweats horseradish".
Michaels-McMahon: Wow, squashing seven people in one show. Nice. Is Vince attempting to turn into Hulk Hogan with that tan? Lots of spots, no real match.
Angle-Mysterio-Orton: Weird crowd reaction here, booing Rey a bit but changing their mind once he busted out the WCW finisher. And speaking of weird, what was with the Tatanka look for RMJ? And how lame do POD sound? Good match, lots of fun, bit short. Totally marked for the ending. If they'd've ended WM22 here, it would have been a great show. But...
Borrie-Butterface: Atrocious.
HHH-Cena: Wrestlecraptacular entrances aside, there wasn't much of interest about this match except for the crowd's baffling "boo everyone" mentality. At least the ending was creative- the match, while not Hogan-Andre bad, was still one of the worst WM closers in a while.
