Well didn't Vince nearly fire flair because of that promo. I don't remember this. What did he say? I don't remember the exact quote, but he compared Orton being a rookie to him being a virgin and then said something along the lines of "Do you know how many virgins I've made sweat, scream and bleed over the years??? Because that's what I'm gonna do to you" And yes, Vince either fired, or was about to fire, Flair the second he walked through the curtain but he got talked down. I think it was Hunter and Shawn who saved Flair's job, but I don't remember

Piper wanting to know why Mr T would want to wear more chains than his ancestors Oh my God, that's horrible! I love Piper, but the guy seems racist as hell. But, given that he grew up in alot of the same areas I did I can totally see how that happened.

Pretty much all of Undertaker's promos in 1998-1999 wouldn't have been possible these days with all the references to the occult. I don't think they would allow Shawn Michaels kicking Marty Janetty through a glass window (not gimmicked at that) either.

Ernie Ladd referring to Chief Jay Strongbow as a "drunken Indian"
Mr Ladd also informing the audience that Manny Fernandez is a "wetback"
Mr Ladd, showing he is an equal opportunity insulter, calling Tony Atlas "Uncle Tom Atlas"
And, again, that beacon of tolerance, Ernie Ladd, in Georgia, calling Dusty Rhodes a, and I quote, "fat cracker with a lisp"

Piper wanting to know why Mr T would want to wear more chains than his ancestors Holy S***, I can't even think of him getting away with that even in the 80's.

Different time, different standards for wrestling. Kayfabe was still going strong and for the most part, wrestling was still very regional. Back then, heels could get away with anything short of murder, it seemed.

I seem to remember around the time that Piper was feuding with Mr. T, there was a house show that had Piper and Cowboy Bob shaving the black midget's head in the ring. Jesse Ventura made one of the worst comments ever, and everytime that I hear it now, I find it hard to pick my mouth up off of the floor.
Jesse Ventura: "It's like Roots 2, McMahon!"

What was the video that was in the OP? The reaction in the second post got me interested. Lawler was doing a promo on Goldust and how he cries that his dad doesn't live him, Lawler basically says "I know Dusty Rhodes, let me tell you why he doesn't love you... you went and married the biggest gold digger in Texas, then put on a blonde wig and kissed men at ring side like a flaming ***" then he goes on about his daughter Dakota (a child mind you) and says "Dakota, you should have named her target, since I heard everyone already has had a shot at her" All in all, it really is one of the most un PC promos of all time in the WWF/E.

Jesse Ventura: "It's like Roots 2, McMahon!" I... Genuinely have no idea what that is, and Google hasn't helped. Explainage? then he goes on about his daughter Dakota (a child mind you) and says "Dakota, you should have named her target, since I heard everyone already has had a shot at her" Honestly, to me that sounds like Jerry's just projecting.

You can tell things have changed when a lot of Piper's promos had to be bleeped out on his DVD due to certain un-PC terms for ethnic wrestlers. The Mexican guy, Bruno, Mr. T/JYD, etc. (You fill in your own blanks.)

I believe the "Roots 2" comment was when Piper and Orton were whipping Mr. T in the ring, but it has been a while since I have seen that clip so my memory might be fading.
But yes, basically anything Roddy Piper said in the 80's would be unusable today.
