For the longest time I didn't get what the big deal was about Zack Ryder. I thought he was mildly amusing, but nothing special. But after last week's Smackdown, well consider me officially on the Ryder bandwagon. I haven't looked at this week's SD spoilers, but I hope his new role as Teddy Long's assistant leads to him receiving a more prominent role.

{Spoiler}Assistant TO the General Manager. That's pretty much what I said. {Spoiler}Teddy makes the difference explicitly clear this Friday. He's NOT the Assistant GM. He's the GM's personal assistant.

I agree. I also found him mildly ammusing at best, but I finally "get" him more now. I don't know why some are so against it either, this is the best gig he's gotten.

Zack's actually starting to lose me a little bit. I don't like the new look of the internet championship, and the new "Broski" logo (especially on the belt, with the hair and glasses) is hideous. Almost as bad as the Jeff Hardy belt.
Back to the old belt and the old "Woo Woo Woo", please.

I'm starting to see the appeal of Ryder after being somewhat indifferent to him during his ECW run (he was always solid in the ring, though). But I still don't see him as an upper midcarder or someone who should be booked as a threat to the Christians/Ortons/Bryans.
Smackdown needs a bumbling comedy face that can hold his own when called for, something Hornswoggle can't do.

I think the logo and belt work well for his character.

But I still don't see him as an upper midcarder or someone who should be booked as a threat to the Christians/Ortons/Bryans. \ It gets forgotten sometimes, but Ryder, at 26, is one of the youngest guys there, and now, I think the youngest guy with a regular spot on TV. I think it's safe to assume he's years from being upper midcard.

For the longest time, I thought he was solid in the ring but not nearly as, uh...cool as others thought he was. Hearing more about him (and his dad) on Colt Cabana's podcast won me over.

I still don't care about the guy.
That's not to say I dislike him, and begrudge him whatever push he might be getting, but he's not someone who interests me. So if he's on tv, good for him, if he's not, well never mind.
This whole Long Island gimmick is a complete mystery to me. As I understand it, he's mocking (or maybe not mocking) an American sub-culture, but that's all I've got.
