I...didn't think the joke was crappy. I kinda liked it actually.

I have a bad feeling about this. He comes out and thanks Teddy Long before taking the mic and making a really crappy joke while smiling the whole time. Don't get me wrong, face Sheamus is a great idea...on paper. However this is WWE. A badass Sheamus that does not smile, does not laugh, does not suck up and say please and thanks to authority and who does not make silly jokes could work. But I have a bad feeling WWE will take the more usual well worn road with his character. The one where we will see him smile and be friendly and lose everything that made his character cool in the first place. I hope WWE prove me wrong. The way I saw it was he grabbed the mic off teddy long and gave a sarcastic thankyou. Still, I agree with what you said and have similarly gloomy thoughts on what they'll do with him. He needs to be kept badass - do that, and he can take Randys crown.

Honestly, while I hope he stays badass so long as he's got that hair / beard, music, and the accent Sheamus will still have most of what I love about him.

On paper face Sheamus would work.
Creative is the banana skin that could cock it up. I just hope they don't have him start high-fiving fans, smiling all the time, making lame jokes etc. Just have him come out, threaten people and brogue kick their heads off and face Sheamus would be great.

I honestly think part of the reason for the good manners was a shorthand "Yes, he's face now, you can cheer for him". We'll see how it goes from here.
Also, at the house show I was at last Sunday before his 'official' face turn he played face against Barrett and the crowd popped HUGE for him. They're sitting on a pale-skinned goldmine here.

Sheamus smiles quite frequently, especially whenever he humilates someone, which the joke did

Suprised this didn't happen months ago, big hoss with great talent, skilled on the mic, on a show with too few credible faces, has a whole foreign country who would love to see him win plus a lot of the US fanbase would get behind an Irish asskicker due to ancestory reasons and he seems to be a nice and commited guy who'd do great PR for them.
Lience to print money, he'll be face for a long, long time.

Ive said it elsewhere, but if they keep him a no nonsense badass (think Bikertaker) this will work I seem to be in the minority that likes the goofy and humorous side of Sheamus; to me those character traits are well established. Personally I want to hear more about his Irish granny and see more moments like pretending to give the title-belt to Vince. I don’t see how doing that as a face rather than a heel makes any difference so long as they maintain the same balance. Before his first title win when he was straight-forward, two-dimensional, bad-ass I wasn’t so fond of him.* *I don’t know how to punctuate that sentence so that’ll have to do.

So people don't like that he has a bit of personality outside "Fella" and "Oy Treple Atch"?? I say it is about damn time Sheamus gets to be the trash talking big bruiser he can be.
And once again...I"M INTERESTED IN A MARK HENRY FEUD! THIS REALY IS AWEEEEEEEEESOME!

His "bag of crap" line ruined it for a me a bit. Just have Sheamus be serious - a staredown would've sufficed before the slap, as opposed to what he said.
Still, I am 100% behind the idea of face Sheamus, and fully agree that he should remain a badass ginger kicking machine.

License to print money, he'll be face for a long, long time. Sorry for the spelling corrections. I did come here to post this, however. Quite honestly, Sheamus should have been a face a very long time ago. He simply has too much for fans to love and heeldom, to me, did not really become him. A genuine Irish asskicker on the roster means that New York, Boston and Chicago are virtually guaranteed sellout crowds, to say nothing about a huge chunk of Canadian dates now selling better. Sheamus'll never have to pay again for drinks east of Toronto; that's the kind of overness that he has as a face.

Love Sheamus and loved the segment, but he's now a threat to Orton, and as such will have the rug pulled out from under him soon enough.

"He needs to be a take no whatever blah blah blah serious badass and do badass stuff like badasses do. BADASS!!'
Some of you realize that Sheamus did Irish Folk tales as a heel, too, right? And, it's Sheamus. The dude with the crazy red hair, fella. You can't pour a guy like that into a bland FCW mold.

CM Punk and Sheamus turning face gives me lots of hope for the state of the babyface in WWE, which has been completely dire recently.

He's already smiling and making Cena-ish jokes. 450 pounds of crap??? I hope I'm wrong. Sounded like a Rock-ish joke. Cena woulda said poop or something. Yup. Cena only uses big words when he's angry. Sheamus had a smirk on his face the entire time. Loved it.

The only thing I would have changed is insted of swinging the chair at Mark when Mark tried to get back into the ring, a Brogue Kick attempt (connecting to the head optional) to keep him from getting in.
But that's just me.
