Oh yes! My first Let's Play is officially off the ground. Aside from a few minor hiccups, I'm satisfied with it. Considering that I had been awake for nearly 40 hours straight, and was drunk when I recorded it, I think it came out pretty nifty. Guys, this game is awesome. If you're a fan of wrestling games, you need to give this a watch. ESPECIALLY if you're a fan of stuff like GM Mode in Smackdown vs Raw, or the EWR games. Thanks for watching. Feel free to leave comments, suggestions, or verbal fellatio. I watched both parts last night. I was interested to see how the "Management option" on that version worked. Maybe it's just me, but the similar option on Returns feels too convoluted to me, and the one you showed looked like more fun.
I think the logic for Returns spoiled me as well, because as I watching, I was thinking the same thing about what you were talking about: the finishes being crappy--though I suppose necessary-- substitutes, and having things like Punk picking up the guy after hitting his "finisher."
As for the video itself, I'm only casually familiar with the format, and my apologies if this is short-sighted, but I felt it was too "Spoony-y" for it's own good. At times your voice evoked the feeling that you were forced to do the video and couldn't wait to get it over with. You clearly enjoy the game, but you gotta show that.
You did a good job of showing some of the things you can do with FFPW's Managament Mode, but after a while I started to get tired of the "I'm drunk" banter. Maybe that's a little "CM Punk"-y of me, but I'm just being honest.
Overall, I'd say it was enjoyable, and though I can't compare it to much in lieu of my own ignorance of the format, I'd say you had a pretty good presentation, keeping in mind my comment about the "bored, annoyed" voice getting tiresome.
I'll keep an eye out for the next one.

Didn't mean to give off the vibe that I couldn't wait to get the video over with, to be honest I was upset that I had to end it so soon. I seriously had a blast recording it. Yea, this game has a much better match making mode than FPR. FPR's match maker mode is worthless because you can't use edits, and who wants to book shows with just the default roster? BOO ON THAT. Somebody on the fireproclub told me that the logic system in this game is not quite as in depth as FPR. Specifically, there's no priority system so you can't link something like GTS --> Pin. So that explains why Punk failed to go for that pin. It wasn't the person who made the edit's fault, it was just one of the game's very few faults. I can't wait to do part 3. I might get antsy and record it tonight but I think it's going to be Monday. Glad you enjoyed it for the most part.

My preference is still for EWR, but it's not a bad little game.

My preference is still for EWR, but it's not a bad little game. EWR is a better overall management sim. However, the ability to actually see your matches play out is what makes me enjoy this game more. If somebody would just make a game that's as deep as EWR, but actually allows you to play/watch the matches...I'd probably never leave my house again.

I'm with you on that, except that I would substitute TEW for EWR. It might be a smark dream, but I think that would truly be the perfect wrestling game. TEW micro-managing ability, with FirePro's gameplay engine and graphics. Maybe even throw in MDickie's ultraviolent flourishes (writhing limbless torsos still being able to get a pin)? Haha kidding. But I would play that like no other game I have ever played.

I forgot about TEW, which is crazy because I bought TEW 2005 when it came out. For some reason I didn't spend quite as much time with it, but it was amazingly in depth. I think that's part of the reason that I didn't spend so much time with it, it just wasn't as simple and addictive as EWR. But I loved a lot of the stuff in TEW, especially the ability to create storylines in advance from the ground up. And the feeling of complete control that you had over the match.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I'm definitely going to continue this all the way until the end of Management of the Ring mode. I can probably get away with doing 2 or 3 months per video, posting 1 or 2 videos every other day.

Cool vids. Always wanted to try Management of the Ring. Booking Mpire is similar but I imagine nowhere near as good.

Your endeavour into FFPW got me to finally play Match Maker in FPR, and I had a lot of fun.

It's amazing how a game with 16 bit graphics can have more depth than any of the Smackdown games combined.

I would say that the 16 bit graphics is WHY the Fire Pro games have more depth than the Smackdown games...but then I remembered the King of Colosseum series created by the same people that did Fire Pro. There's no English version of any KOC (nor are there any patches), and there's only 3 games in the series with the last one coming out in 2005, but they're amazingly deep.
Huge licensed roster of NJPW, AJPW, NOAH, and more, awesome commentary and crowd noises that both get louder and more excited as the match progresses, AND it's in 3D. If I had the ability to record PS2 games (and a copy of KOC II that wasn't scratched to hell) I would do some videos for it. Look it up though, KOC II is an amazing game.

Part 3 & 4 now up. Finally. Good jorb. If I do get a DS Lite (which I really want to), I'll probably end up using it mostly to play FFPW off an R4 card, if possible.

Funny because when I had a DS, I barely played anything other than FPW. Sadly, some asshat stole it with my Fire Pro cartridge still in the DS. I was more pissed about losing my game than the DS lol.
