PWinsider.com is reporting on the Elite section (I'm not a member, so I just saw the blurb) that there was a full 22 minutes cut from Bret Hart's induction speech so it would fit into a TV window. THis is just more reason to buy the WRestlemania 22 DVD.. seriously everything seemed cut down, Hulk, Mean Gene, Vickie was falling apart, and there were skips I thought they were alloted more freedom

If they were alloted total freedom it would have been on an extra 2 hours. The world doesn't revolve around wrestling.

WWE is their highest rated regular programming, therefore a special, on Mania weekend willl logically draw big numbers for them. So, would a three hour special draw more, or a one hour special followed by Law and Order and The 4400 reruns? I'd argue USA cheated themselves out of a good ratings push by not airing the entiere broadcast.

Thanks for the flame, man, I was being serious. I think a "once a year" special would do more of a rating than a three year old rerun.

Oh and another thing, as much as I like Bret, the Eddie induction, Gene going in. I dont' want to see any of them up there for extended periods of time where they just drone on and on like Sherri did to the point where both the live audience and TV viewers are fed up and just start thinking, "OK WE GET IT ALREADY!"

Just finished watching the ceremony (damn Arizona TV time).
From the looks of it, they cut the chunk of his "Owen" stories, and I can point out the exact moment they made the cut: the shot of Booker T laughing like he just heard a really good joke.
I'm actually tempted to buy the DVD now just to hear his version of "Owen" stories.

That's why I wish they did it like 2004 and release them separately.

And I was wondering if Vince was gonna do a "Frank Sinatra" on Bret and cut him off mid-speech with the music.

Didn't see the show. But, if Bret spoke for 23 minutes, of course it was edited, probably for reasons of allotted time, and, of course, because this broadcast is meant to sell Wrestlemania above all else. If substantive comments were lost, and I'm sure they were, WWE will probably release them in some other format. That doesn't make everything perfect but, come on, Bret's an experienced TV performer, so I'm sure he knew that his comments would be edited at this particular event.

At least they weren't edited to say like:
"Bill Shatner..loves my...phallic lollipop"
like they do with George Takei on the Stern show.

At least they weren't edited to say like: "Bill Shatner..loves my...phallic lollipop" like they do with George Takei on the Stern show. This is probably why Bret never mentioned HBK. Otherwise, we would have seen this: "Shawn Michaels...is..the best there ever will be" (generic shot of the crowd giving a standing ovation)
