Reminded, I had a thought the other day - will Kenshi still use psychic attacks? Wouldn't really make sense, given the storyline reasoning for him knowing them is that Ermac taught him in exchange for being freed. They'll just retcon it if they really want to. Quan Chi still has his Onaga markings which he only picked up in Deadly Alliance. I don't think they're actually writing new story mode chapters for the additional characters, are they? If they wanted to, they could have him show up with the exact same attacks and outfits hy had in the Deadly Alliance -> Armageddon trilogy and not have to explain themselves, since he'd just be a bonus character for an extra gameplay option.

I beat this game last night. Took me like six tries, but yeah, I finally did it. I then played a few matches online, and here's what I've noticed:
-Everyone plays as Scorpion. -Nobody knows how to block. -Nobody knows how to do a Fatality. -They DO know how to use the spear, and teleport. I know this because those are the only two moves they do. -Besides uppercuts.

What's funny is Fatalities for the most part aren't even hard. Plus Scorpion's best special move isn't the spear or the teleport, it's Hellfire or whatever they're calling it in this one.

The funny thing looking back on mortal kombat 1 and 2 is that you start to realize how terrible scorpion was. Like you could hardly combo with him while the rest of the cast could do crazy juggles flawlessly. Anywho, I beat storymode yesterday in a marathon session. That final boss is annoying untill you realize that you just have to be REALLY PATIENT and wait for him to attack so you can punish him {Spoiler} mostly with a teleport superman. That's pretty much what that final fight comes down to, wait for shao khan to do a move, teleport, superman, repeat. you can also combo into it if you feel really risky, but the teleport superman seems to be to safest strategy And besides that I'll probably main stryker as he has some very good pressure tools. holding out the gun while being able to cancel into a dash, plus dash blocking makes him able to shoot you at any time. Now if I can only figure out some anti air gun combos I can beast dudes.

I didn't block for the longest time just because I'm so used to Street Fighter but now I magically win because I decided to start blocking. I played a few more matches, and the numbers are in (note I've only played 10 matches:) Scorpion usage: 70% Raiden usage: 30% People who know how to do fatalities: 30% (All of the Raidens, probably because his fatality is just QCF QCF X) My (admittedly awful) win-loss ratio: 4-6 As for the final boss... {Spoiler}I beat him easily enough. All I had to do was avoid his jumping shoulder bullshit and then uppercut him every time he missed his hammer swing. Took me a few tries, though.

You're runnin into scorpions and for me EVERY single person i am playing now is using kung-lao and abusing the same gawd damn combo everytime.
Teleport Spin Juggle you with punches Repeat the above untill they are able to do to x-ray Which would be teleport , kick , spin , use x-ray
Same gawd damn thing NONE of these kung-lao players are any different , and the reason why IMO influx with all these kung-lao players , simply because justin wong uses him and he got declared top tier and now everyone follows suit , gawd damn sheep lol.

I would rather use Kung Lao because EMP PerfectLegend uses him, and his Kung Lao is a thing of beauty. Justin Wong's Kung Lao couldn't beat Tom Brady, though no surprise there. Nobody can top his Noob clones.

I'm wondering if I should attempt to learn shang tsung.
you see I'm torn, I mained him in MK vs. DC, but the newer shang is more like the MK3 shang. I've also been messing around with him and I can't really figure out how to play him properly, like I can with stryker.
Plus those fireball combos are tricky :-\

Working on "Mastering" every character (as the game puts it)...so far my best two have been (since I'm going in alphabetical order for blood spilled at the moment) Cyrax and Cage. Though I do also have a lot of practice with Sheeva and have won some onlines with her. Who knows? ...though I do still wish Superman was in. Doing the punch ground followed by quick second punching ground was the way I got the "Beat Expert Ladder Without Continuing" achievement.

I've switched up mains from Cyb-Zero to Reptile in what was possibly the greatest choice I have ever made.

They sure have made Smoke and Noob really good, and nerfed Sub-Zero (who after years of being nerfed was made awesome again in MK/DC).

Sub zero is top tier best zoner in the game when ya get the hang of him , just alot refuse to use him because he is slower than others. Smoke is horrible and has probably next to no good low attk , which leads to spamming his teleport and gettin punished for predictability. Noob is similar to sub zero primarly used for zoning...but once someone gets upon him and pressures him it's over...zoning is his one and only game and he is nowhere near as good as sub zero at it.

ok, after a couple more hours of playing shang the general strategy with him is to zone people out using ground skulls.
Since you can juggle into another ground skull, and since the close ground skull is apparently safe on block, the idea is that you want to put ground skulls where you think your opponent will go on screen.
Another thing is that, according to tom brady, shang tsung's up skull is very good on block and can be used as a way to get it, like if your opponent put themselves in the corner after a bunch of ground skulls and you want to punish them with a crazy corner combo.
Also shang has crazy corner combos.
