I hope nobody saw Anne Hathaway on David Letterman last night because Letterman told the audience THE DAMN ENDING.
Hathaway TRIED to shrug it off, even saying to the camera "Chris I had nothing to do with this!"
I'm extremely pissed he did this. ARGHHHHHHHHH

Good thing no one watches Letterman, though.

I doubt letterman actually spoiled the ending. I don't want to read whatever he said just in case but no one would ever want to go on his show to promote their movie again.

If you watch the actual video, you can kind of tell he was joking. It seems to be something he does a lot, so it's probably not really the ending. I'm more angry at Hathaway's short hair. It offends me so.

I'm planning to see this for the midnight premiere, but honestly, am I alone in not being particularly hyped for it? Besides my opinion on Dark Knight kind of slipping in recent months to preferring the Burton movies, it just really doesn't look like it has any sense of fun to it and is taking itself far too seriously. I'll probably like it, a lot, but I'm going in with the opinion that this has no way in hell of topping Avengers. Make no mistake, this film is gonna be HUGE. I can see where it stops just short of what The Avengers did, and somehow this will be deemed a failure by some people's twisted logic.

I'll agree it's gonna be huge but fall short of Avengers level.
I'm curious to see what Spidey's flick does to the box office. Obviously DKR will take the top slot from Amazing, but it'll be interesting to see if there's any splintered audience.
Honestly Avengers was released at the perfect time to maximize their profits.

Avengers was a fun comic book movie. And was awesome
The Dark Knight Rises is a grandiose crime drama. And, I'm sure, will be awesome.

He just comes off as a completely generic villain multiple steps down from all of those we've seen building up to him. I'm really tired of the whole Burton movies not taking them too seriously, thus they're magically preferable to the Nolan movies. The Nolan movies are still insanely entertaining, they just have an arc that is being developed over the course of 3 movies that tells the story of Batman, in each of his stages. The Burton movies were just random movies with Batman and other shenanigans in them, and they weren't all that entertaining. I mean no one whined when the Lord of the Rings took itself seriously, and changed everything from the crappy 70s animated movie. That is what Nolan is trying to achieve here, and I've loved every second of it and cannot wait for TDKRises.

However, Lizuka, and indeed myself, are going in knowing we'll enjoy it, but likely thankful that Nolan's time is over and hopefully, next time round, we'll get some darkness and seriousness, but equally get a world that has a sense of fun and adventure, to to put it blunt, to get a comic book movie that isn't ironically 'so serious'

But there is so much material within the Batman world where that exists already. The 60s series, the Burton films, the Schumacher films, the earlier comics, the multiple animated series, and so forth. Hell, even Batman Begins has the equal sense of fun and adventure, along with a good portion of The Dark Knight. It just became really serious because that was what Nolan felt was necessary for the Batman character to evolve, and it fits in with some of the most popular Batman comics out there (Long Halloween, Dark Knight Returns, Killing Joke, etc.). Hell, a good portion of the second movies in trilogies tend to end on sour notes, just to set up exposition for the third film being everything culminating into the satisfying end.
Hell, just look at X-Men 2, Superman 2, Empire Strikes Back, Godfather II, etc. They all end on pretty sad notes, as they were setting up for the end. Granted, TDKRises looks like it'll be a much bigger bummer than most of them (Last Stand and Supes 3 were both awful regardless), but Nolan gets that Batman shouldn't be like the others.

I have an essay in my head explaining why I'm more hyped for this film than any other superhero/comic book movie in my history. I'm 24 and I've read Batman comics since I was 9.
But I can't help but feel that the discussion is fairly pointless. People have chosen their sides and their perspectives and no matter what the film is, it seems like it won't change it. On either side.
So I'm just going to go and hope its half as good as I think it is.

I just like Batman and really any good comic movies. So while I see merit to both arguments, I'm just happy there are good comic movies being made. I'd be onboard for a more comic book-y Batman, but I've loved these too.

I've just come to find that I think the Burton movies are a lot more outright fun than those are, even if they aren't actually nearly as high quality of productions, and that they feel more like Batman to me. Even with the severely overhauled Penguin and a villain made up for the movies in Schreck, I think they just get the feeling of what Batman is more than the Nolan movies. And that's fine, just how I've come to see it. Also, Hathaway doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of topping Pfeifer's performance.

See, on the one hand, yes please. On the other, they also say there will be an ultimate collection of all the films next year some time, and that's bound to come in a fancy box.......and I dont want to double dip all three movies for a fancy box. I'll be doing that with the Avengers as it is (I really want a Cosmic Cube)!

I only own TDK on standard DVD. It's time for an upgrade.
