There was a period on Nitro when Roddy Piper used to come out and deliver long and dull promos about anything he wanted, regardless if they helped the show or not. To me, Piper is like one of those guys who constantly tries to be funny and just comes across as annoying. I missed Piper in his prime though, perhaps that's why I never really got him and his character. I felt the same way about Dusty Rhodes. Piper went stale sometime around 86. He's been trying to play that same bad boy character ever since but it just seems forced. But it obviously still worked, so who am I to say. I simply haven't found him entertaining for a long time.

That explains a lot since I seem to have a mental block about anything before 1987 in wrestling for some reason.

Considering Jericho was a heel in the cruiserweight division and Zbyszko was a face fighting the nWo, of course Zbyszko got bigger pops in WCW. And to my knowledge, Jericho and Zbyszko never worked together in WCW, so the opportunity for Zbyszko putting Jericho over never even occurred.
You know what else got big pops in WCW? The West Texas Rednecks. Was that any good? No. (Although admittedly Rap is Crap was catchy).
I agree with the point that some people in this thread are "old school", which is code for "anything before the 00s was amazing and anything after isn't comparable and sucks". If you surveyed 100 wrestling fans from different eras of wrestling, I'm sure the results would greatly be in Chris Jericho's favour.

-AJ Styles. Not sure why. I liked his short run as Christian's goofball fanboy, but other than that, he just hasn't done it for me.
-CM Punk. Granted, he's been better (IMO) in this face run, but I still have trouble getting over how much of a self-important douchebag he is (especially the "kill yourself" bulls***). He's still got a few years to mellow out, though.
-Chris Benoit. Sorry people, I just can't. And never will.
-Derrick Bateman. Too self-aware, too meta. Always felt like he was specifically _aiming_ for Memetic, and therefore there was nothing organic about him.

I'm not even sure how this turned into a debate about old school bias, or even an all around "Jericho or Zybysko" debate. My argument was simply that Larry was indeed over in WCW. I like a lot of Jericho's work. As far as the West Texas Rednecks thing goes, "bad" is subjective, regardless of who we're talking about. I think Miz is horrible. A lot of people love him. I never liked Terry Taylor. A lot of people say he was underrated and deserved better than the Red Rooster. I believe people should like what they like, whether anyone shares their opinion or not. If 100 people tell me that Wrestler A is better than Wrestler B, it's not going to change my mind. I know what I like better.

Dolph Ziggler - I know he's more 'current' but I just can't see the appeal outside of his selling. He also annoys me, not in the good I wanna see him get his ass kicked way, but more of the I'd sooner change the channel then see him wrestle way.
I'm sure there's more but I'll have to reply again later.
