On the Wii, for $2. That's why I love pawn shops.
Personally, the graphics look okay, but it doesn't help that the mechanics are confusing, and created characters comrpise of nearly 1/3 the game's roster.
It also showed how lazy TNA was that, when Southpeak took over the reigns for "Cross the Line", they recycled almost everything from the console game, including the plot on the PSP.

I picked up the PS2 version when it was first released. For some reason, the CAW mode was completely removed on that version. So if you played the story mode you were forced to play as Suicide. Sadly, that wasn't even the biggest problem with the game. I remember AJ Styles and Samoa Joe hyping it up as a game similar to WWF No Mercy. I have no idea where the f*** they got that notion from, but it certainly wasn't from playing it.

You're talking about the first game right? While it definitely had it's perks (I loved how counters and reversals were done in the game and the graphics were great), I thought it was a big disappointment. The game play gets really repetitive after a while and the move sets are really limited. There's also the fact that, as the OP said, 1/3 of the roster is created characters.

I hated the huge amount of created characters not so much because they werent real wrestlers but because they were so god damn CAW generic, how about creating some interesting characters that fit the Mexico & Indie arenas to fill up the game.
Gameplay is ok but not a very memorable game, it was a decent first try, shame the company went belly up and we wont see a new TNA console game in a long while.

I got bored of it real quick, I think the lack of variety in moves killed the game. Got really annoying when much of the roster had the same moves. Just made it really repetitive.

Even at $2, you grossly overpaid. If it were free, I'd still have to be convinced into getting it.

lol on the xbox 360 version they advertise the "Canadian Destroyer" on the back, but they only way to gain access to that move is to download Petey Williams.

Yeah, I played it on my friend's PS3 and I have to say it's one of the worst wrestling games I've ever played. Heck, one of the worst games I've ever played, period. It's a shame since the six sided ring and some other stuff in TNA like Ultimate X could've made for really fun matches. Instead, the roster is horrible and the mechanics are broken.
Haven't played Cross the Line, but the name "South Peak" doesn't inspire confidence.

I could be wrong, but didn't WWE All-Stars use a version of the TNA Impact engine? I think most of the same developers worked on it.

Still bung Impact on the 360 once in a while. I do enjoy it as a guilty pleasure. My main gripe is that what there is of it is good fun, there's just nowhere near enough of it. It feels like a demo or a beta rather than a fully released commercial game. Two on 1 handicap matches with Mike Tenay as the 1 are fun tho

Thanks for the review. I almost paid 5 dollars for this "game."

Everything about it was great except for the AI. When even Sharkboy can Hulk Up and counter every move, something is horribly wrong. Rhino was the worst though, threw my controller for the first time while playing against him.

I love the game, the only problems are the lack of moves. Keep in mind that TnA knew the game development time would take a few years so the short roster is due to it featuring guys they knew would be contracted for a few years. Saved us from seeing guys like Black Reign, Rellik & Austin Starr being featured 12 months after their releases.
I play it everynow and then, I get some really great fluid matches in. At the time it was insane to have a game featuring AJ, Joe, Daniels, Homicide & Senshi, I would of paid a $100 on day 1 release because i am a fan of those guys.
Well done for picking the game up for the WII (of all things) for $2 and critising it, what was the point of that.

I normally don't care for IW ripping off WWE but if they do get another console game contract, they should go with the producers of the WWE 12 games.(formerly Smackdown v Raw)

The original advertisment of this game had Jeff Hardy and Monty Brown on it... it was in development for a really long time.

Not that Yuke's WWE games are perfect, but at least they're competent. Though I had no idea that WWE All Stars was developed by a lot of the people who worked on TNA Impact. That was a pretty fun game.
