Why does this thread just look like it started abruptly? I feel like there was something before the first post...

Honky Tonk Man has been working a pathetic Elvis gimmick for 30 years or so, who had much respect for him to begin with? A lot of fans sure liked him. You think he's an ass, but that has nothing to do with the fact that he was good at what he did. Honky may be a bad human being(hell so are a lot of wrestlers) but as a performer he was "over".

Long-time reader, first-time poster... I chose this thread because I was on HTM's forums in 2003-04.
At the time he echoed a lot of my, and others', sentiments (disdain for HHH, Bischoff, etc.), but my opinion of him has steadily declined over the years. Come to think of it, he was always an attention hog.
This was easily the worst I've heard from HTM. I suffered a stroke on my left side much as Bret Hart did -- in the same year, no less -- and I'm with the majority that finds this thoroughly insulting. Sure, he can rant about his problems with Bret as a wrestler, but taking shots at one's health like that crosses another boundary. It insults me and thousands of others.
Add to that HTM's lack of fact-checking: Goldberg didn't directly cause the stroke. A series of concussions culminating with a fall of a bike actually did it.
