I've been wondering if Stephanie really (or at least, initially) wanted to be part of the creative team, back in late 2000-early 2001.
We already know about her very mixed track record when it comes to booking. We already know about her educational background (based on what I've read, she's more suitable to be a businesswoman [i.e., handling the business side of the WWE] than a booker).
According to Paul Heyman's interview in 2007-2008, Heyman referred to Stephanie as "The Vincess". I think it means that Steph is said to be exactly like Vince.
Given Vince's control freak nature in the company, and that he's reluctant to take "no" for an answer, I would say that Vince chose Stephanie because she's easily manipulated. We all know what happened to Shane when he disagreed with his father.

Stephanie has said "no" to her father quite a few times actually. IE, incest angle.

It seems as though both children have said no to Vince at one point in their adult lives (Stephanie putting the kibosh on the proposed incest angle, Shane doing his own, non-WWE things), so if Steph really wanted nothing to do with creative, I highly doubt she'd be forced to or even obligated to.

I don't think she's easily manipulated, I just think Steph views Vince as her ultimate role-model. Every interview I've read of hers it's obvious she looks up to him, and her thought process is very similar to his. Whereas with Shane; he wanted to be his own man, he wanted to be in the family business but adapt it. Steph is happy to go along with everything Vince wants.

Stephanie on the creative team was the worst thing that ever happened in wrestling. We're stuck with a person who's terrible at their job, but can't ever get fired for it.

What the hell is it with Vince and incest angles? You can take the boy out of the trailer park but you can't take the trailer park out of the boy. Vince is, and always has been white trash pure and true.

Doesn't she just oversee the whole thing now though? I doubt she's in there pitching ideas with the rest of the grunts. I honestly think that HHH will be a good filter in the creative process, for what it's worth.

You're missing the point here. I already mentioned that she has a very mixed record when it comes to booking. What I'm saying is... Did she really want to be part of creative initially? I'll compare Stephanie's situation to an episode of SpongeBob, when Pearl (Mr. Krabs's daughter) ran The Krusty Krab, turning it into The Kuddly Krab, but she really didn't want to run the restaurant, and she did this so she can get herself fired.
