rgisinv.com they'll hire anyone. It's a suck ass job and slow right now, but after Christmas they have more hours than they can handle. If you want to work, they will work you. Having worked 6 years in retail I actually shuddered at the mention of RGIS... and yes they LITERALLY will hire anyone. Half the inventory staff seem like drug addicts. "SKU CHECK!!!!!" is forever burned into my mind.

I just looked to see if they had any openings here in Las Vegas. Nope. Good ol' Vegas. And I haven't just been applying for retail jobs. I've tried office jobs, casino jobs, call centers, and even a job at the city dump. And don't say it's because I'm bad at interviews because they don't even schedule interview. some don't even bother sending rejection letters. I guess that's waht I get for living in a dump that relies on tourism and gambling for income...

If I'm not mistaken, Vegas was one of the hardest hit cities of the recession, due to tourism taking a massive hit. The job market is obviously going to be terrible there right now.
Have you considered moving? If the jobs aren't there, and they're not in Vegas right now, you're going to have to go find them.

If I could, I would, but I'm currently living with my parents and my dad is the only one working. My mom doesn't seem to want to be away from her family here(even though they seem to treat her like crap) and we probably don't have enough money to move anyway. If I had the money, I'd just consider saying "screw it" and move to Canada instead.

Mainly because of the residue of oil.

Seriously, I'm so pissed off and depressed that I think I'll start taking up drinking or even worse, self harm. Hey man, it's not just the unemployed that feel that way. I hate my job and am looking for a new one, but like you I seem to get nothing at all despite spending almost everynight job hunting. Hell I've started crying at my job because I've become so depressed over my situation. Like you I've even consider self harm as well. Something to just end the pain. I guess the only things to keep me going is my family and hope that eventually I will land a better job. The way I look at it despite the depressing news each night some day the economy will get better. It'll take time, but someday it won't be as bad as it is now. Also I think it helps to remember how much better we have than the other millions of people on the planet right now. It's tough out there right now and I'm pulling for you.

But, that comes with the fact that RGIS does not drug test *unless* you are going to be on the pharmacy team. Hell, who am I kidding, I refused the damned drug tests and they still insist on sending me into pharmacy inventories. We hear more horror stories related to WIS and their personnel than with RGIS. Jet Strong.. have you checked the unemployment office ? They should have job listings or placement assistance.

But on a serious note, I agree with 2 points that few posters brought up: 1. Volunteer. I volunteered at my local church (doesn't have to be a church, it could be something else too, the more legit the better), and one of the guys I met told me about a job opening. 2. Go somewhere to get training on interviewing, because there was somethings in the interview I had the guy told me in 1 that I was kicking myself for afterwards. (I didn't enough on some of the questions which I think came back to haunt me). Keep your head up and keep plugging along.
