9/12 EDIT - His NEW MIXTAPE is up for FREE DOWNLOAD - t.co/w6V0NkwRefreshing intelligent hood s***. Dude makes that rugged NY sound that's missing today and mixes it with a genuinely strange charismatic barrage of left-field references and a quirky subtle sense of humor. As the dude who predicted Odd Future and Lil B taking off, I can see Mr. Muthaf***in eXquire being huge. Here's "Huzzah" (language and excessive ass warning) And his free EP 'Cheap Thrills' that opens with a reinterpretation of Van Damme's 'Cyborg' - www.limelinx.com/files/781a27ad4f9184040604715977ef483d

He's no Eli Porter, I can tell you that.
Seriously, I'm not a huge rap fan so my opinion doesn't mean much, but I liked this.
And you weren't kidding about that excessive ass.

Nah....can't see it...
Odd Future had the hipster crowd with their uniqueness....Lil B has his gimmick going which is getting him exposure....
This dude....nah don't see it...lyrics don't stand out really although I don't know who did the production but if it was him I'd give him props for that though...

Odd Future had the hipster crowd with their uniqueness....Lil B has his gimmick going which is getting him exposure.... Well, before the hipsters and the "gimmick," both of them had pretty large substantial followings of rap fans/blogs solely off the strength of their music, which I think eXquire is more than capable of. I think eXquire brings that genuine Brooklyn sound without being stuck in the past and redundant. It's hard raps which a subtlety that's been sorrily lacking in Hip-Hop. Plus his charisma is off the charts.

Wow, I like this a lot better than the Danny Brown ish my friends have been trying to get me to like lately. I'm not even gonna try to predict how far this guy can go with this, I honestly didn't think Odd Future was going to pop as hard as they did and they got over in a major way. But I like this.

I like it, but I can't say it's anything special. Pretty good though, and miles ahead of what most mainstream rap has been reduced to.
I still think Tech N9ne should be the next breakout star, but I'm fearing that it won't happen since he's had his chance for a long time now.

I still think Tech N9ne should be the next breakout star, but I'm fearing that it won't happen since he's had his chance for a long time now. Well I think Tech is taking a very deliberate slower path and letting the mainstream come to him. It's how he's kept such a loyal fanbase without any of them really being bandwagon followers. If a lot of other underground artists suddenly had songs with Wayne, they would be stoned on sight, but Tech's turtle-pace and approach of inviting the likes of Busta and Wayne into his world has allowed his legions to make sense of it. I think the only thing holding Tech back is how he feels the need to cram every single word and style he's ever learned into every one of his songs. The Tech songs I like ("Cry Baby," "I'm a Playa," "The Industry is Punks," "Slacker") I really REALLY like, but an entire album of his epics is just tiring and soon what should be crescendos all blend together. If he would just, not compromise, but exercise some restraint he could for sure have a "look at me now" level single.

I've read his lyrics and interviews, dude seems like a decent enough guy. Plus I'm adverse to "OMG you HAVE to like this!!!" kinds of hype, and my friend from Detroit does that to me in regards to him. Funny enough, she never mentions Random Axe's album...

I think it's just his flow that puts me off. I can see that. He's said in interviews that he invented his flow by listening to local crackheads and mimicing their vocal patterns. As someone who considers Young Zee among his favorite rappers, I personally love it, but get how it's not for everybody.

So Mr. Muthaf***in eXquire's mixtape just came out for FREE and it's pretty good. (language warning, of course) The "Huzzah" remix is a hidden track too, and features El-P, Despot, Das Racist and (coincidentally) Danny Brown - DOWNLOAD THE WHOLE MIXTAPE HERE - t.co/w6V0Nkw

That wasn't too bad. Actually pretty good. And I say this as someone who has absolutely detested rap for the past 10 years, so that's high praise for me.

Yeah, he's the first post-9/11 New York artist to really do that intelligent ig'nant hood shit. I see a lot of responses like yours in regard to his music. Can only mean good things.

El-P needs to ditch the pedo 'stache, Danny Brown is tremendous and eXquire sounds uncannily like Meth.
