What was your opinion about those two movies? While I liked both movies, I prefer the first one more these days because I noticed a lot of complaints about Bad Boys II. Okay, for starters, I do like BB2, and did enjoy it, but I can see a lot of the reasons for the complaints. One thing is that the movie was a little too long, another was the forced humor (Especially the electronics store scene and the scene when Martin and Will were interrogating the teenage boy at the door). Also, a lot of the explosions and action scenes were rather over the top.
Reading the thread of Michael Bay from a couple of months ago made me wonder. I don't hate Michael Bay like others do as I do like some of his movies like the aforementioned ones, The Rock, and I kind of liked the first Transformers movie, but I haven't the second one.

I did enjoy the second one, but like you said, it was probably about 40 minutes too long.

The first one is enjoyable, and I dig the humor and interplay between Lawrence and Smith. It's pretty much another buddy-cop movie ala Lethal Weapon, 48 Hours, or Beverly Hills Cop, but stuck in Miami this time and updated to the mid-90s. Big whoop in that department. Smith and Lawrence did a great job of making it their own, though, even with the predictable story elements.
The second one was way over the top, and pushed suspension of disbelief way too far. It was over the top, seemed to push past good taste, and seemed needlessly brutal. I generally skip it, and was even disappointed when I saw it in theaters years ago.

Random Thought: Will Smith doesn't have to cuss in his rap to sell records.
He sure as f*** doesn't mind, however, if it sells a movie.

Well, I was in the mood to watch these movies, but I am going in descending order. I ended up watching Bad Boys II first. I still think it was entertaining, but like I mentioned before, as well as someone else mentioned, it was a little too over the top. Plus, how many times was "Shake Ya Tailfeather" played in the movie?
Also, was anybody ever aware of a Bad Boys video game that came out in 2004 called "Bad Boys: Miami Takedown"? I figured that the game would suck so I avoided it. I watched videos on YouTube and man, does it suck. Voice acting, gameplay, graphics, not to mention that Mike and Marcus look nothing like Will Smith and Martin Lawrence respectively. A friend of mine noticed it in the bargain bin at Gamestop once and I told him that the game sucks.

I thought the interrogation scene with the teenage kid was one of the best parts of the second movie. >_>
But yeah, the first one was the best. Both Will and Martin in the prime of their careers, Téa Leoni (who I always found pretty hot), and it had that good '90s summer action blockbuster feel to it. The first one is one of my favorite '90s films ever. I still dig it.

Loved the Miami vibe in the first one. It got lost in the shuffle of the second, but man, the first one took all the great elements of the setting in Miami Vice and put it on steroids. Just excellent stuff.

I can't give these movies a fair shot, as I cannot stand Martin Lawrence. I didn't like him before I heard about his supposed behavior on the set of his show, and hearing about all that did not endear me to the guy.

Well, I completed my Bad Boys marathon yesterday by watching both movies. Since I watched them in descending order, I can honestly say that while both films were over the top, I can say that the first one was definitely different and better than the second. I can see why people complained about the second movie. I still liked it, though, but I can understand the over-the-top stuff and the dark humor, like when Martin's character unwittingly took X, same with the electronics store stuff, but I found that part to be sort of funny, but I still remember watching it at 17 and the part with the little boy, I was a little surprised about that bit.

The first one was great, the second one was okay, and both films are about the only positive contributions Michael Bay has ever made to the film industry.

"Let's cut the crap A-HOLE!" Nicolas Cage was absolutely hilarious in this flick, though I doubt it was intentional.
