Nah, WWE is just taking Paul Heyman's advice. Play to strengths (....uh, they're hot) and hide flaws (limit their ring time, don't let them talk). Of the people in that ring, at least six of them can work, namely Beth, Nattie, Eve, Tamina, and arguably the Bellas; out of those six, the initial two can work fairly well and Eve and Tamina are climbing. As far as mic skills, none of them are Jake the Snake, but none of them are exactly dogfart either. This isn't "playing to their strengths," this is cutting the division off at the knees and pretending to be shocked when no one's over and everyone's expendable. I'm sorry, we were piling on the Divas in this thread. Continue, please. And I totally disagree with pretty much all of that, especially about Tamina being any good and the idea that they're not generally horrible speakers and terrible actors even by wrestling standards. I would say limiting their time just reduces the chances of them embarrassing themselves, but it actually doesn't, given the mistakes they manage to make in 1-2 minute matches and them making me cringe when all they had to do was say a few lines in a 30 second promo/skit.

They're not any worse promo wise than Trish/Lita/Molly/Jazz were, and they all managed to have interesting feuds that the fans cared about. They have talented women that wolf mentioned (although I also don't think Tamina is anything special, but she's not bad per se), and they have absolutely no clue how to use them. Hell, they have multiple talented women in FCW that they could bring up and make it the biggest division they've ever had, but instead they're settling on this absolutely horrific booking they've been keeping at since McCool left. They were on SOMETHING of a track with the Divas of Doom team, but Natalya getting pinned constantly and Kelly winning every match with a roll-up made everyone look pathetic. They need to give them skits backstage, tag teams to get over with (like Tamina with the Usos) to have six man tags, some actual lengthy matches with a point to them, and maybe a promo here and there. This is not a difficult concept, it's just blatant hideous booking.

I was there live. The Divas match was certainly a low point. Very odd for them to put it right before the main event of Raw, talk about a momentum killer.
Though it looked to me like one of the Divas on the face team might have been injured(I want to say Alicia Fox), because after the match she didn't walk up the ramp like the other 7 Divas, she was taken around the stage to the back with a ref watching over her.

You can't tell, but this is actually a .gif of the crowd. ;D Nice! A perfect encapsulation of the evening. I beg to differ. The crowd was explosive throughout the night. I should know, considering how my ears are still ringing for how loud they were cheering.

This is not a difficult concept, it's just blatant hideous booking. To each their own. For me, when they regularly manage to f--k up and sometimes even injure each other in matches that last 45-90 seconds, it makes me not want to see them in longer matches. Same with non-wrestling stuff. Beth and Natalya did some 15-30 second pre-taped picture-in-picture promos (like on Superstars and Challenge back in the '80s and '90s) when the Beth/Kelly feud started. If they had been any more wooden in those promos, termites would have eaten them, so now I'm glad WWE doesn't let them talk anymore. Eve is now doing skits as a way for her to "develop a character", but all she's really doing is showing that she is an abysmal actress. If I see a short movie (or an average length movie, for that matter) and it's terrible, I wouldn't want to see the extended director's cut. Same applies to wrestling, especially when there's a million better things WWE could do if extra time becomes avaliable than make crappy matches longer.

I don't blame the crowd for being dead for the divas match. I mean honestly WWE doesn't really value their divas divison all that much and why should the fans care either?

I'd be embarrassed to be in the divas division.
Sure, they get paid and get to travel but you're also a laughing stock.
