I notice when watching the first SD under the WWE name. The logo look naked to me.

Continuing watching that first segment, a couple of things stand out.
A divas match started the show, followed by stuff involving the Hardcore Title, a lot of strong mid card stuff, but the biggest thing I remembered was WWE wanting to really push the name, and have Lillian announce the NEW WWE Hardcore Champion. Bully Ray, Raven, Justin Credible, Crash Holly, Trish Stratus and finally Stevie Richards all were the NEW WWE Hardcore Champion, to emphasis that yes, it was WWE.

Vince had snipers placed in the building in case anyone said WWF.

Even though the name change happened in May 2002, the blurring of the 1998-2002 WWF logo and the censoring the letters "WWF" didn't start until around November or December. A few DVDs released in between like "Hulk Still Rules" and "Triple H: The Game" have the WWE logo in the bottom left corner of the screen with no blurring or censorship of "WWF". I seem to recall a match on some DVD where RVD came out with his IC title, and the logo on the belt was blurred, even though the match took place a month or so after the name change.

I was in eighth grade at the time and I still remember, clearly as daylight, going to a wrestling website on May 6, 2002 and seeing the new logo. My brother and I felt like a little part of us disappeared. Ten years later, we're completely accustomed to it, but it was quite the shock at the time, especially since I knew nothing about the lawsuit.
My brother actually had a "Get the F Out" shirt. It was fun explaining the concept of that campaign to non-fans.

They should have just drawn another line under the "F"
Vince could have then said "Dammit, we're drawing a line under this whole panda people crap, HAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!!"

I remember for a few months the jobbers and low card guys would wear those Get the F Out shirts.

That's not what I meant. I didn't say that footage taped between May 2002 and November/December 2002 doesn't have to have "WWF" references censored. It does have to be censored now and has had to be censored since late-2002. What I meant was that WWE did not start their policy of censoring WWF references until November/December 2002. That Rob Van Dam match you mentioned may have taken place in June/July 2002, but the DVD you saw it on didn't come out until WWE had started blurring the Attitude-era WWF logo.

I just think, that since it's been 10 years, the WWE should not have to do all of the censoring. Enough time has passed. It's established now that the WWE is the WWE, and it won't be going back to the WWF.
Does anyone know if the censoring has to go on for a certain amount of years? Or, do they basically have to censor 1998-2002 forever?

It's established now that the WWE is the WWE, and it won't be going back to the WWF. The censoring wasn't and isn't WWE's idea. Censoring that old footage is time consuming for WWE's production people. They have to do it because they are legally no longer allowed to use the "WWF" initals or the Attitude-era logo. I don't mind censoring "WWF", but it pretty stupid they have to censor the scratch logo. That logo means "World Wrestling Federation", which WWE is still allowed to use. On the other hand, WWE did bring it on themselves as I believe they had agreed in 1994 to not change the logo, then debuted a new logo in December 1997, which is what angered the World Wildlife Fund.

It just kind of happened from one week to the next. It was actually quite a smooth transition.
I actually had a "Get the F out shirt", I only really wore it around the house because I could never take it to school obviously.

As a weird little fun fact, THQ was informed of the name change before it was officially announced, so THQ's E3 2002 lineup, that was shown to press so that they could take appointments to see the games, included the game WW Crush Hour as they were only told about name change and "Get the F out" campaign and not what the new name was going to be.

There's no time limit on it. The only way round it would be for Vince to negotiate for it - but that would involve Vince admitting he was wrong.

I remember tuning into Raw a little late and wondering why all the logos were f***ed up....then I read about the name change later.
