I get it, though.
I know the internet fanbase tends to resent it, but I get it. WWE doesn't want a ton of guys who have 'wanted to be a wrestler their whole lives', because a lot of them, ESPECIALLY if they've manage to play the 'big fish in the indie pond' role, are going to come in thinking they know everything and aren't necessarily going to be co-operative with management and the bookers/writers.
For the most part, they're the guys who are most likely to get indignant when things aren't going the way they thought things would go.
Mind you, that's not ALL of them, and some of them will be willing to work through angles/gimmicks they don't think highly of, but I have to think that someone who comes from a legit sports background who didn't necessarily dream of being a pro wrestler is going to be more likely to take what they're given and do what's asked of them with less of the "I'm starter than the bookers, I'm smarter than the writers, I'm smarter than Vince, I should be pushed as the Savior of Pro Wrestling." sort of attitude.
