I've seen some clips of Rick Rude in WCW without a mustache on some WWE produced DVDs of WCW. Of course he always had a 'stache in WWF, and I was watching his last match where he got injured in 1994 and he had a stache then.
So when was he sans mustache? I mean I know it was in WCW, but for how long? It looked odd for Rude not to have his mustache.

One reason for no stache was WCW's way of saying that WWF was a taped show. When he showed up in WCW, WWF was still showing taped shows of Rude with the stache. By having him show up in WCW with no stache was supposed to somehow show WCW's superiority.

Look up Masahiro Chono and Ron Simmons vs Rick Rude and The Barbarian on Youtube, for example.

I remember he had a beard with DX and showed up on a taped Raw the same night that he showed up with the NWO where he had shaved his beard, but he still had a mustache. I'm talking about when he was still wrestling, while in WCW he was completely clean shaven for a while. I just wasn't sure when that was, because he had grown the mustache back by the time he had his final match.

As I mentioned above, Rick shaved around Halloween Havoc 1992. And I think he was also clean-shaven for a short time in 1993, but I can't find anything on Youtube.

I was watching the WCW DVD, and there were like 3 or 4 short clips of Rude sans mustache, but I wasn't sure when it was, since every clip I'd seen of him as far back as WCCW and Memphis, he had some type of facial hair.

He looked really weird without any facial hair.

You're right, I forgot he had the stache in '97. I remember him shaving, but not leaving the stache.

He looked really weird without any facial hair. This. He always looked like a completely different guy to me.

When Rick Rude shaved his mustache around '92/'93, he looked like a different person, and his eyebrows suddenly looked really thick. You know what else looks really weird? King Kong Bundy with hair.

Crap, I never knew Kevin James wrestled! I'm pretty sure that you're making fun of that pic of King Kong Bundy, here. However, the funny thing is that the real Kevin James wrestled in school. He an Mick Foley were on the same team.

Maybe it's just me, but he looks an awful lot like Curt Hennig. In that pic he looks like Kazarian with short hair.

Bundy looks too much like a normal fan in that pic just trying to be something that he's not. Without the hair he's much more menacing.

I think it was a pretty good look. You know without thinking, I said Rude looks like an older version of Bobby Roo. Yeah, it's late here and I'm half asleep.

I really miss those f***ing tights. Seriously, I wish Ziggler would switch to that...he could totally pull the airbrushed stuff off.

The dearth of pornstache did detract from his character a bit. Fortunately it was a "one step backward, ten steps forward" sort of deal, as Rude was at the top of his game for most of his WCW tenure.
Details like that can be important, though. Imagine a young Ultimate Warrior trying to get over with the short, conservative haircut that Mr. Hellwig has been sporting in recent years.
