Colorado Springs got a D+, so my city is probably somewhere around there.

Fort Wayne and Indianapolis are both C-, so I imagine my city is similar.

How did I know my city was going to be in the Bottom 10? At least Reno was one slot worse.
Ugh, that just means this whole state is just as bad as Florida.

I find it ironic that a state called the sunshine state has 5 cities in the top 20 most depressing cities.

How can the Happiest Place on Earth be located in such a miserable area? Kind of off topic, but fairly recently I read that Irlando I'd the this most dangerous city in the US. what's going on down there, Florida?

I'm in number 86.
I know why too.
(Depressing list incoming)
All the major businesses are shutting down (BoA) or "evil" (RJR). The city water is known for being so calcium heavy that Kidney Stones are prevalent. Two MASSIVE Hospitals in the heart of the commercial district. The Mall sucks now (Thank you CBL Malls), The winters are unpredictable to such a degree that even in a "major" (for the state) city within the city limits you can STILL lose power every winter thanks to ice. A New Major League style Baseball Stadium......for a Minor League Team....that the city BARELY paid for and was barely completed without going TOO far off schedule. The undercurrent of racism prevalent in most Southern Metropoli. A definite "Class Split" thanks to the aforementioned hospital (WFUBMC), "Old Tobacco Money", and Wake Forest University being downtown. The fact that we're NOT Greensboro (#79 BTW) The Dead Zones of boarded up businesses. That's about it.....

Florida would be one of the saddest places to live especially now that most of the Golden Girls are dead

Well, notice Key West isn't one of the saddest Florida cities. We're too drunk to realize we have emotions down here.

Milwaukee is sorta sad, I mean, I've seen the list. I lived most of my life in that area. Anyway, I'm not mad at any rate.

A large elderly population and the collapse of the housing/construction market are the two big reasons I see, as a resident. That and since less people have money to travel, our tourism gets hurt, so other people's crappy lives skew our outlook.

Yay Boston! It's interesting that we are consistently ranked in the top 10 meanest and rudest, but we're also top 10 happiest
I guess that's just our way of telling every other city to suck it

The numbers are skewed... there are more retired citizens in FL per capita than anywhere else, and old people love to hate on things for no good reason at all. I speak from experience as a 10+ year Floridian.
That and it's not at all uncommon for older terminal patients to take the suicide-by-pill-overdose route, which again unfairly casts a larger dark cloud on Floridian cities what with the larger elderly community who would be increasingly guilty over how much money they're costing the younger generation especially in these trying economic times. Since the article bases this classification on suicide rates.
