I'm gonna have to agree with the parents on this one. First off, why was she invited to read to the class in the first place? Ya, it was part of a program that has celebrities read to children, but that isn't an excuse. If anything, the program should have brought in someone the kids knew, or at least someone dressed as a cartoon character or something. None of this is Sasha Grey's fault, but she should have used better judgement in the whole thing. It's great she wants to help kids, but she needs to realize that her choice of profession limits her choices in some of the things she does to help. So are kids not supposed to watch Princess Diaries because Anne Hathaway got naked in every movie since? If Anne Hathaway came to read to a class, would people complain? Or how about perpetually stoned James Franco? Or Al Pacino because he played the Devil once?

Not since John Holmes passed out reading "Swallows and Amazons" to Ms. Francis' 5th Grade class has there been such uproar.

This reminds me of when I was a kid and NYPD Blue first debuted on TV. My dad received a brochure through the mail from some organization calling for a boycott of the show because it what going to contain nudity and use many curse words not yet used on TV. The brochure had a list of words that were going to be used on the show. I was about 10 or 11, and read the brochure and learned a whole bunch of curse words I had never heard before. As a kid I had no interest in watching a police TV show, so I wouldn't have seen or heard anything I wasn't supposed to from the show, but I can thank the organization calling for the boycott for teaching we a lot of new curse words.
Anyway, this is sort thing is the same thing. The kids probably wouldn't remember the lady's name that read them or care who she is, but people making a big stink over it is probably going to make it more likely that a kid will find out about her porn career by asking why it was supposedly wrong for her to read to them or more likely from older kids explaining it to the young kids.

I don't care how many "out-there" fetishes you've got on your resume as a porn star, that by itself doesn't make you a bad person. If she wants to go read to some children for no reason other than to do something good, then that's fine by me. It's not like shes going to start demonstrating proper porn techniques if she's in front of little kids unattended.

Reminds me about how the DARE program taught my class about all sorts of drugs and ways to hide drugs we have never even imagined.

She quit porn. As in she doesn't do it anymore. And realistically even if she did still do it what does it matter? Did she show up smeared in a couples dude's genetic leavings? She wasn't doing this to fulfill some community service time, she was doing it because she is actually an intelligent and erudite woman, who wants to help the kids. We associate sex and shame together, but why? We were programed to like it to help procreate the species, the fact that we are not purely instinct driven means we will find multiple ways to express out sexuality beyond simple copulation. Sex is natural. Sex is enjoyable. Engaging in behavior that underscores that point, or makes money from sex is neither immoral or degrading in the abstract. It is the addition of our personal views and associated feelings that give these actions weight. Context is required for the stone to be cast. Also, that is horrible as a prima facie to be based solely on porn. Let's change the career to... say pro-wrestler. Look at just the last 10 years and all the drama, drugs, deaths and catastrophes in the private lives of pro-wrestlers. Compare it to porn, and do we really think that someone like Raven should read to our kids? Doesn't matter if they're relatively pristine, like Punk (except for him being an epic level skirt chaser), there is still a veneer of sleaze associated with them due to their profession. Or, hell, Pro-sports. Let's have Barry Bonds or Roger Clemens, y'know REAL role-model types. Might as well ban baseball players too. People who kids would have modeled their life after, because when I was in 1st grade, I wanted to be like Will Clark or Jose Canseco, not Peter North.

Dude,I don't know.NOTHING shocks me,but this may be a little wrong. Can't these kids just google her name?I've beaten off to her plenty of times to know that a million results would come up..and she's done it all. She's probably going by her real name when reading to the kids, not her stage name. Wouldn't you think? Sasha Grey is not her real name.

All we ever got in my elementary school was stuff like a bad Mark Twain impersonator (you could see his pager), Frank Capelli doing a bad cover of Baby Beluga by Raffi, and those guys with the expensive laser devices for a light show. Oh yeah and I certainly saw the Looney Tunes fire safety film more than once. That was a standard issue fire safety movie for years.
It would have been nice to have a nice hot girl read to me while I sat in my Osh Kosh overalls.

Also, can we all agree that Sasha personifies the American work ethic? She is not exactly a gorgeous woman, and really has no parts that are spectacular, but damn if she wasn't willing to bust her ass until she suceeded!

But then she has the look I tend to like. Still, have to agree that her work ethic was amazing. But then if you are going to do something ya shouldn't half-ass it.

A few things:
1. Her name isn't Sasha Grey, and I'm assuming she's going by her real name. 2. Why would children google someone who reads to them? 3. Do they even think about googling anybody, especially teachers, etc. 4. Obviously, she should be reading, as she has great oral skills, and people need to know that damnit!
Fun Fact: Sasha Grey is 4 days younger then my brother.

Perhaps the school will introduce her as a person not to be. Right or wrong I get the feeling that could happen.

Yes but her career has her performing many acts, not pretending to, actually performing, things that many of those parents might not agree with.
