Well you all asked that I do this so let's see how the first one goes. I'm gonna try to do one every week but there are gonna be some weeks where there either wasn't anything or just something not all that interesting. I thought this week's was interesting enough to start off:
From Herb Kunze's Wrestling Tidbits:
October 18, 1990
In an attempt to produce a new "star," Vince will be putting Roddy Piper into circulation again. Piper will get a big push. There's already talk of resuming the feud between him and Jimmy Snuka. Snuka looks like a heel-to-be with that beard.
--------------------------------------------
Now we all know how that turned out. Piper stayed on as a mostly a commentator until the summer of 1991. Snuka remained a face and was mostly used as a jobber to the stars until early 1992. But now let's discuss how it would have been had a face Roddy Piper and a heel Jimmy Snuka been paired off into a feud in late fall/early winter of 1990.

Might've been decent.....I don't know.....Piper as a face just never really worked for me.

Pretty interesting....however, by the time I got around to watching 89...Snuka was just a dude in cheetah print tights. He never did much. They could have pulled it off, if either had been built properly.
BTW, Keep posting these, I'll read 'em, man.

It would've definitely been something new to me. I was well aware of their first feud at that point and had never known Snuka to be anything but a babyface. So him suddenly turning heel would've caught me completely off guard as a kid.

I don't think many people would have cared for it as Snuka was just floating around and Piper was on commentary.

It's weird to read newz from 1990, since it wouldn't be until 1998 that I'd see it for the first time.
Keep posting this stuff!

The best time to have resurrected Piper-Snuka would have been a year earlier, when they were teammates at the '89 Survivor Series. Talk about a wasted opportunity. There should have been big-time tension between the two because of their blood feud from five years earlier. Snuka could have had a hand in Piper being eliminated by Rude or Perfect, then gone full-blown heel.
Instead, that match was all about Piper-Rude, with Snuka woofing in the background and the Bushwhackers doing whatever the Bushwhackers did. I think Piper may have made one passing reference to his history was Snuka, but that was it.

I've been reading these rumor stories for a few months now and I'm in the summer of 93.

Yeah it would be a lot better if people could go somewhere with the story.... This one has no beef. The only thing good about it is "Snuka looks like a heel-to-be with that beard." But you know what I have Monday off so I might stop by in here and give you some results of these events.
I love this idea though... And I also thought of Lord Alfred!

All of these are actual newz stories from Herb Kunze's Wrestling Tidbits column.
October 25, 1991
Steve Austin's contract with WCW ends in November and apparently he hasn't signed a deal with the company yet. So, if negotiations fall through he may end up dropping the title to Dustin Rhodes at Halloween Havoc. There are already rumours that "the Stunning One, the Stunmeister, the Stunman, the St-St-St-St-St-Stunster himself" as Diamond Dallas Page called him in one of his more redundant moments will be jumping to the WWF.
----------------------------------
Now think about this one. Stunning Steve Austin jumping ship to the WWF in 1991. Years before the Austin 3:16 speech, ECW, the Hollywood Blondes, etc. Just think of how the entire landscape of wrestling could have been changed had he not resigned with WCW and stuck around for a few more years.

Could well have been mired with a terrible early-mid 90s WWF style gimmick, and we would never have classic Steve Austin moments in ECW or WWF/E.

I just found this thread actually-I REALLY like this-and these are all interesting scenarios. As far as Austin, I wonder if he woulda been brought in as Stunning Steve, or at least along those lines, I don't think his heel personae would have taken off as much in 91 WWF. And since Hogan's run was winding down a bit by that point, I don't think we woulda had that "Dream Match".
I'm thinking of some kind of alliance with Flair of sorts. His career might have taken off by 93 or 94 thouh-it is fun to speculate

That would be an awesome angle leading up to an equally awesome Survivor Series match
