The top WWF brass was talking until just a few days ago like the signing of Flair was a done deal. The Toronto Sun, which has the strong working relationship with Jack Tunney's office, even reported on Saturday that Flair would be losing the title and had already signed with the WWF and again on Monday that Flair had signed and would feud with DiBiase. Comments are now that if he doesn't come now, he might as well never come (never in wrestling terminology meaning two or three weeks.)

Owen Hart, who had been wrestling as The Blue Angel, re-injurd his knee on 7/14 in Los Banos, CA and will be out of action for a few weeks. If/when he returns, it is likely it will be minus the hood.

Apparently there is at least a little smoke to the rumors of a possible mixed match with boxing champ Mike Tyson against pro wrestler Bam Bam Bigelow. At least Bigelow has told friends that this deal is just about a lock, and as the story goes, the match would take place in the fall of 1990, probably at the Egg Dome in Tokyo.

There was talk of making Mark Young (Mark Scarpa) into the Blue Blazer but it was decided against doing that.

This past Saturday, Joel Goodhart strongly hinted that Ric Flair vs. Terry Funk would headline his 9/21 show in Philadelphia. Flair's name was never mentioned directly, but the implication that Funk would wrestle against a champion whose name can't be mentioned for legal reasons until Sept. 1, now let's hear the chant, and the place started with the "We Want Flair" chants and Goodhart closed with Goodhart always delivers.

The word is that at the Summer Slam that Elizabeth will show up wearing a robe and at a key point during the match will drop the robe and be in nothing but a string bikini and high heels which will distract either Andre or Jesse Ventura and lead to a babyface win.

SummerSlam '94 takes place 8/29 as the first event ever held at the grand opening of the 23,000-seat United Center, a state-of-the-art facility in Chicago. The headline angle, Undertaker vs. Undertaker, has gotten so cold that reports we've got are that it will be pronounced dead after the first and only match. From what we've been told, the decision was made to remove Brian Lee from house show bookings for September, but that he would return sometime very soon under a new name, with a new look (obviously) and as a new character.

Owen Hart made his official television debut with his new handle, The Blue Lazor (although in Philadelphia they screwed up this weekend and called him the Blue Blazer, like a sports coat or something) and beat Barry Horowitz.

Pete Doherty has been added to the Titan broadcast team as a heel color commentator. They are calling him Duke Doherty and I guess he's being groomed to replace Jesse Ventura if Ventura becomes as big a movie star as some are predicting and would be unable to continue as a wrestling announcer.

Hogan is using that helmet with the fist as his new gimmick and all of his endings will revolve around the helmet. Of course Titan will be selling helmet replicas for all the little kids come Christmas time so it's important to get the helmet over these next few months.

One Toronto columnist says there's a rumour that Hogan and his wife Linda have broken up and that Hogan is now courting Brooke Shields. Right.

There is talk that WCW is considering bringing in the Warlord ("the biggest stiff since John Studd," writes Meltzer in the 07/07/86 edition of the Observer I just happened to be reading last night). No word on if he'd bring his magic wand or not.

While Andre was in Japan last month, Harley Race went to visit him several times at both his hotel and the airport in order to get him to jump. Andre turned it down. Although Andre and Vince Junior don't get along particularly well and Andre refused to sign a contract for Vince (which is supposed to mean automatic termination but in this case it didn't,) he won't leave the fold out of loyalty to the family, particularly Vince, Sr.'s widow

I don't have the complete line-up for the Survivors' Series but almost certainly will by next week, however the main event will be the 10-man elimination tag match with Hulk Hogan & Ken Patera & Paul Orndorff & Superstar Billy Graham & Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Andre the Giant & King Kong Bundy & One Man Gang & Butch Reed & Rick Rude. The semi-final will be another 10-man tag sending Honkytonk Man & Ron Bass & Danny Davis & Hercules Hernandez & Harley Race vs. Randy Savage & Brutus Beefcake & Don Muraco & Junkfood Dog & Jim Duggan. What I had reported as being a 20-man elimination match involving all the tag teams actually is even more confusing of a match. It will have 10 tag teams: The Hart Foundation, Strike Force (Rick Martel & Tito Santana), the Bulldogs, The Islanders, Greg Valentine & Dino Bravo, The Bolsheviks (Nikolai Volkoff & Bore-us Zhukov), The Killer Zzzs (Jim Brunzell & Brian Blair), The Barbie Dolls (Paul Roma & Jimmy Powers), Demolition and the Rougeau Brothers. The match will have all 10 fighting for themselves similar to the tag team elimination matches that Mid South promoted in 1985. Two wrestlers will be in the ring and they can tag out to any other wrestler they want to, which will have heel vs. heel and babyface vs. babyface match-ups on occasion. The wrestlers "have to" accept any tag requested. When a wrestler loses, both he and his teammate have to leave and it keeps going until one team remains. The other match will be the 10-girl elimination tag match, and since the Jumping Bomb Angels from Japan will be touring the WWF, they will undoubtedly be on the babyface side with Moolah, Velvet McIntyre and maybe Debbie Combs against a heel side which will feature Sensational Sherri (Sherri Martel), Leilani Kai, Angie Manneli, Judy Martin and one other.

While nobody has confirmed this at all, rumors are flying everywhere and it has been printed elsewhere that WM IV will be at the Superdome in New Orleans which I guess shows McMahon isn't afraid of a challenge.

The Niagara Falls building is claiming a Hogan vs. Zeus match for 12/11, which may be taped for the PPV on 12/27

Although, I wonder if they hold off on Hogan-Andre II and save it for here instead of SNME
