They tend to do that with this show though, and forget that sometimes characters haven't been shown in weeks, so they make up for it with a bunch of quick, "Here, this is what I've been doing." scenes. It's sloppy. I tend to agree with that a bit. It seems like the episode will be going along and then all of a sudden they realise,"Wait, we need to have a Jon scene this week". Like in Prince of Winterfell, Dany has a scene that lasts about a minute and a half and is basically.... Jorah: We can't stay here Khaleesi Dany: I won't leave without my dragons Jorah: 'Kay I don't really mind that stuff but I can see why it might be a bit annoying. I only watched S1 over a 2 day marathon about a month before S2 started. I think doing a spree like that you don't really notice it that much but watching week to week it's far more apparent.

I don't think any character has ever really had a few weeks off. Occassionally they have a week off, like how last week was so focussed on Black Water, they didn't show Jon or Dany, but most weeks everyone appears at least once, even if it is only a quick scene, which mirrors the books and the POV chapter style

^yeah really. I mean there were characters who didn't appear for an entire book, before having the bulk of another feature their story

The thing is...while that works for a book, it doesn't work for a TV show. You can't have both. They aren't mirroring the books 100%, so why film the show like that?
Leaving a character out of an episode is fine if they aren't really doing anything important, but to have a bunch of scenes of random characters on each show, only to have them talk for maybe two minutes, and then vanish again, isn't good TV.
I realize it's hard adapting a popular book to a TV show...because who do you try and please? People who've read the book, or people who've only seen Game of Thrones in it's TV form? It's not an easy balance, but they do it pretty well...with the main exception being the flaky way of character building I mentioned above.

Lol, I suppose they feel they have done a decent job and in some ways they have.
They have failed with The Hound, but I can see why, as if they over did it with him it would be hard for him to face turn as quickly as he did last episode, but I dont care much about him while in the books I really did.
I can't stress that if you haven't read the books, you read the first one at the least now. They aren't the best written things, but it just goes well with the series and makes you realise some of the little things the series missed or did really fast.

I actually decided against reading the books while I'm watching the series.
I'd rather enjoy GoT how I've first been exposed to it. And not just spend every episode from this point forward, or when rewatching episodes going "That's not what happened in the books." or "Man, that character was way cooler/important/badass in the books, lame."

I always love that one, yet so few people ever moan about how Loras Tyrell isn't even close to the hottest person in the show, yet alone the hottest person in the Seven Kingdoms!

Ha!
I get that, it's just funny how so many people complain about the whole Ygritte/Asha thing, but whenever I mention the Loras thing, no one cares. I know why and I don't really care, it just amuses me.
I'm more annoyed about name changes than I am about face changes, but then I wanted Melisandre to be black, so yeah.

Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying Ygritte. As far as Loras, u think they needed him to look gay so as to sell that aspect. For what its worth, as a book reader I do not recall a thing that even winked at this. If anyone does plz share. There is so much in those pages sometimes I forget stuff.

There is so much in those pages sometimes I forget stuff. you mean about Loras being gay with Renly? it's all really subtle in the book, so subtle that most people don't even pick up on it (I know I didn't, the first time around at least). basically the first time someone even calls him gay in the book is when Jaime Lannister gets pissed off at him and tells him to get out of his way or he'll "stab him in places even Renly didn't find". and that's late in the 3rd book.

Oh, it's so obvious in the books!
Lol, it isnt really, it's little things you have to pick up on like how he looks at Renly, or how Renly calls him in to his tent to help him with things, but doesn't call his wife, there's also a line about Renly spending more on clothes than the Queen and how his Kingsguard is the Rainbow Guard was meant to be GRRM giving a shout out to the whole rainbow symbol and stuff. In later books, it's a bit more explicit when Cersei makes all sorts of jibes at Loras, and Jaime in particular is angry at him and says he'll shove something so far up him it'll go places even Renly never went.
GRRM later confirmed that he meant them to be gay, and lots of people were shocked. I got it right away, but my friend who introduced me to the books, who also recently came out, never noticed at all. So it isnt even a thing where people read what they want to read, it's just not that easy to pick up on.
I don't think he needed to look more gay, after all, if they had some flaming queen sterreotype it would destroy the whole feel of the piece, but in the books he is clearly described as the hottest guy ever, so when he isnt even the hottest guy in the show....but then looks are subjective, to others he might be (and this is me talking, I'm a fan of Joffrey!)

So I'm making my way through Storm of Swords. {Spoiler}During this thread I saw a passing reference to The Red Wedding and assumed that was just the name given to the wedding between Joffrey and Margaery. Y'know, Lannister red, you can see where I got it from.
Well, boy was I wrong I mean, holy freaking crap!

The wife of Stannis Baratheon, Selyse spends much of her life in seclusion, shut away in a gloomy tower. Tobias Menzies as Edmure Tully. Well.
Hmmm.
Lots of random faces, everyone pretty much fits, Diana Rigg wouldnt be my first choice for that role, but she's a decent choice and Tommy Sangster has the right weird look for Jojen.
Only middling issue I have is that Beric is meant to be a bit younger than that actor looks, and Thoros fatter, but whatever.
Crook as Orell is the outstanding choice. He'll play that well.
