Did they mute out the Yes chants and pipe in boos?

Exactly.
Just like what they do with Jinder Mahal.

Yes - except sometimes they were SO loud that you could still overhear them. WWE's going into crisis control mode on Sheamus, which is pretty hilarious to me.

I'm glad WWE is doing this. Bryan is much better as a heel than a face.

I'm surprised they left in the 'na na na na hey hey hey goodbye' for AJ.

They did seem to edit the crowd response, but at least they had AJ acknowledge that the crowd love Bryan now.

I'm glad WWE is doing this. Bryan is much better as a heel than a face. Bryan is a thousand times more interesting as a heel. There isn't a rule saying you can't be popular and still be a heel. The moment you turn him face, he loses his edge.

It did sound like they muted the crowd at times, but if you listened closely (and you knew what to listen for) you could hear what the real crowd response was.

It sure sounded like they tried to nullify it as much as possible.
Hell AJ got the Na Na.. Hey Hey.. chant, and that sounded like they muted it a bit too.

The funniest one was after he sent AJ up the aisle, to me it seemed like a "Daniel Bryan" chant broke out but they muted it and put in some weird boos and sound effects. I was waiting for the Wilhelm Scream to make an appearance.

I was waiting for the Wilhelm Scream to make an appearance. LOL, yeah that was the worst part. "BOOOOOOOOOOOO" (clap, clap, clap) "BOOOOOOOOOO" (clap, clap, clap) Such a s***ty editing job. It also implied that someone in the audience actually cared about AJ's character, which was pretty stupid in the first place.

I think they should go for it and Daniel Bryan should become the reverse of the usual "heel who thinks the crowd loves him". Like how JBL or Kurt Angle would always act like the crowd was cheering for them, Bryan will hear cheers and chants for him and always interpret them as sarcastic and hateful.

I'm glad WWE is doing this. Bryan is much better as a heel than a face. A forced heel/face run does no one any good. WWE need to move with the fan opinions.

If you listen closely, you can actually hear the boos.wav track restarting several times.
I don't get how they have such a great video package team, and yet their sound editing on Smackdown can sound so obvious.

It was clearly muted with some canned noise thrown in, but I don't think the crowd was as rabid for DB throughout the entire segment as people here like to say. For the first part, yeah, they were. But watch the part where he runs down AJ, I don't see any fans in the crowd behind them yelling "YES".

Surely manipulating a paying audience's response is wrong. Surely.
