The question is simple: what was the best match of the first third (4 months) of 2012? I included the main big matches from the pay-per-views, mostly because I can't recall any major tv matches happening so far and the big matches of the pay-per-views so far generally seem to have been the best ones.

Undertaker/HHH
While Lesnar/Cena was good. It felt kinda slow at times and then match was over. Not saying Taker/HHH wasn't, just saying that I kept thinking the match would be more fast-paced than it was.

There's been a lot of good matches this year already. The two to me that were more than simply very good matches and had that something extra to take them over the edge though were Undertaker vs. Triple H and Cena vs. Lesnar. HiaC was just wrestling storytelling at it's best and had be captiviated more than any match in years. And Lesnar-Cena was just brutality like we haven't seen in WWE for years and years, probably since Mick Foley was letting people kill him every month from 98-2000.
If I had to pick between the two, Taker/HHH gets my vote.

For me, Bryan/Sheamus. I would put HIAC behind the three Extreme Rules matches. HIAC was the best match at Mania, but to me, wasn't as good.

Ok I have to admit, in no way shape or form did I expect THAT match to be leading this poll at all.

HHH/Undertaker was perhaps the finest example of storytelling that I have ever seen. So that.

I just....the HIAC match still confuses me. Storytelling is great, but it was a hardcore match, with 90% chair shots and a cell for NO REASON. I know I'm on the wrong side here.
I picked Lesnar and Cena. If anything, because it had me the most interested I've been since MITB last year.

I'm curious how the hell Bryan / Sheamus is winning this when it didn't even win the match of the night poll.

The story of HHH/Taker can't be touched, but the actual wrestling in Sheamus/Bryan is second to none.

HHH/Taker and Cena/Brock were spectacles, that's for sure.
But I was more into the Sheamus/DB match. So that.

yea, that Taker/Cripple H took a while for it to get going, and the Hell in the Cell was pretty much pointless.

In terms of actual wrestling, Bryan/Sheamus. In terms of old men crying, HIAC for sure.

I'm curious how the hell Bryan / Sheamus is winning this when it didn't even win the match of the night poll. Hindsight's 20/20, bla bla bla. At the time, Cena's fluke, lucky win over Lesnar and the promise of him taking time off added a lot to the match. Now that we know he isn't really taking time off, it's a lot less impressive. Bryan's systematic destruction of Sheamus, only to be defeated by his own arrogance and impatience (charging twice into a big boot) was a damn entertaining match that pulled everyone in and finally cemented Bryan's place as a credible opponent, something he hadn't really done even before capturing the WHC.

Undertaker/HHH for me. True spectacle, breathtaking match. Lesnar/Cena had a lot of shock value but is probably only the third best match in this poll. Bryan/Sheamus has second place because it was a great storyteller, an epic encounter and played out really well putting both guys over. But Taker/HHH has this easily for me. Absolutely brilliant.
