I get a shift premium from my job for taking the 11:30am-8pm shift. Works out just fine for me.
Would I take less pay for more "flexibility?" Hell no.

What the heck is working 9-5? I work in a factory where 6am-6pm is the norm; 3-4 days a week.
I don't "like" it, but I do like having a 3-day weekend. Just screws with my body clock, where "sleeping in" means I wake up at 6:30.

Many places are switching to a 7.5 hour workday.

My brother works at a place where he would work an extra hour a day for 9 days, then get every other Friday off.
(My dad would joke with him, "Don't you ever work?"; I was the opposite, as he wondered if I ever got a day off.)

Get everyother friday off for working an hour more the other days in that pay window.

I am a retail manager so I have no idea what a typical "normal" work week is.
Sometimes I yearn for the 9-5 Monday to Friday schedules that everybody seems to have, but at the same time, I still manage to have a social life and I love my job.

Sounds like my schedule, though I work the overnight shift (5PM-5AM, used to be 6 but they changed it a few weeks ago). 2-2-3 schedule? All the days off are nice, but dammit, I'd trade it back for the 8 hour, 3-11PM 5-day-a-week schedule I used to have. Seems like EVERY time something is going on on a weekend, it's my weekend to work. The schedule has pretty much killed my band's practice time as well, as we used to practice all day every Sunday and now we get once every two weeks, with maybe an odd assorted mid-week off-day thrown in if we need extra time for a show coming up or something.
